The comic also introduced the character of Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke; a classic villain never introduced into the DC Animated Universe. Yet for all that has changed, one thing has remained constant; this is a fantastic comic with amazing artwork and solid scripting. Feeling betrayed by Batman for reasons that are completely different than in the original comics but born of a similar conflict, Todd intends to offer Batman a sadistic choice, forcing him to kill The Joker in order to save his new partner.

The artwork by Ty Templeton is worth the price of admission alone. The colors by Monica Kubina add the perfect sense of depth to the original pencils and inks, with subtle effects like the weak blue light that seems to emanate from the tank holding Robin, faintly lighting the stones around him.

The letters by Josh Reed are also well displayed. Alan Burnett and Paul Dini spin a fantastic story here, with dialogue that sings on the page. While it would be better for new readers to go back and read the first 13 issues building up to it, Batman: The Adventures Continue 14 is a good comic.

This is everything a Batman story should be and a wonderful continuation of the classic animated series. You are commenting using your WordPress. You are commenting using your Twitter account. by Sebastian Peris on February 13, DC Comics is continuing the story of Batman: The Animated Series with a new comic miniseries.

How many issues of the Batman adventures are there?

Robin, however, thinks the swash-buckling mercenary is just here to help. Batman: The Adventures Continue 3 opens up with Batman, Batgirl, and Robin midfight with a rampaging Clayface as a mysterious man watches on. Clayface splits himself in half, with Batman taking care of one copy, with Batgirl and Robin taking the other. After incapacitating Clayface, Robin and Batgirl are suddenly approached by Deathstroke who seems to be impressed by the pair. Once again Slade approaches Batgirl. Once again he heaps on the compliments, then before leaving, warns Batgirl that someone has been watching them. That makes sense of course, since this is supposed to be a sort of continuation of the cartoon. The comic basically breaks down to one fight scene and three conversations, one of which just restates everything the reader has already read in the comic.

batman animated series comic 2020

Batman: The Animated Series ran for just 85 episodes across four seasons in the early '90s, but its impact is still being felt 30 years later. For many, as noted by Catwoman writer Tini Howard , Batman: The Animated Series defines Gotham and its cast of characters — and the DC comic book universe DCU has been widely affected by decisions made for the show in the decades since it aired. The show's effects go beyond introducing popular characters to comics canon, like Harley Quinn and Renee Montoya. Batman: The Animated Series also overhauled major character backstories and introduced the world to definitive takes on villains, like Mr.

One of the few issues I had with the series was that certain characters never appeared in it.

‘Batman: The Adventures Continue’ #1 Comic Review

Whilst Batman: The Animated Series introduced famously introduced new characters such as Harley Quinn and Renee Montoya to the Batman mythos, The Adventures Continue is going to explore key characters that we never saw in the animated series. There are other characters like Azrael, who was popular in the comics around [the time of the show], and Deathstroke, who we never used in the animated series. Bringing these new faces to life will be a familiar artist. Ty Templeton, who worked on all of the original animated tie-in series, is returning to the world of Batman: The Animated Series to draw this new adventure and it feels like he never left. We can just feel like we just stepped into these things yesterday, because the shows and comics are always out there.
