Spike discovers the thief attempting to sell the animal at a pet store and, assuming him to be Hakim, holds him at gunpoint.

The case contains a Welsh Corgi. As Spike leaves the store, Hakim attempts to take the dog back, but it escapes, prompting Hakim, Spike, and the group of scientists who had illegally experimented on the dog to give chase. Spike loses Hakim but gains possession of the dog. Jet puts a collar with a tracking device on the dog so he can pinpoint Hakim's location once he steals the dog back. Spike takes the dog for a walk in order to flush out Hakim. The scientists activate a dog whistle to find their "data dog", resulting in the corgi escaping from Spike.

All the dogs in the city, including the corgi, chase after the scientists' truck, attracting Hakim's notice. Hakim steals a car, pursues, and grabs the dog, while Spike and the scientists pursue him. Meanwhile, Spike and Jet bump into Twinkle Maria Murdoch, leader of the Space Warriors, a group of eco-terrorists armed with a biological weapon called "Monkey Business", a virus that can transform humans into apes. Faced with the threat by Murdoch's followers to release the virus on heavily-populated Ganymede if she isn't released, the Ganymede government cancels the bounty and forces the Bebop crew to let her go.

When Murdoch and her men renege on the deal and launch the virus anyway, Spike and Faye pursue her through the hyperspace gateway. They destroy two of the three virus-laden missiles, but miss the third, prompting the Ganymede government to shut down the spacegate, stopping the missile by trapping it in hyperspace. Spike and Faye narrowly escape the gate before it closes, but Murdoch and her followers are trapped. Netflix's adaptation of one of the greatest TV shows of all time is here at last, and whether you're a new Cowboy Bebop fan or an old one, you'll probably get a hankering to watch the original anime which is also streaming on Netflix. If you're not quite ready to watch the saga of four spacefaring bounty hunter pals front to back though it's only 26 half-hour episodes, so not a huge time commitment , we've gathered a list of the 10 episodes to watch before or during, or after diving into the live-action version starring John Cho, Mustafa Shakir, and Daniella Pineda. Most of these episodes—or "sessions" as they're called in the jazz-infused world of the show—are either the direct basis for storylines in the live-action adaptation, or introduce characters that you'll see in the new version. Bounty hunter partners Spike Spiegel and Jet Black land their ship, the Bebop , on the surface of asteroid colony Tijuana in search of a wanted criminal named Asimov Solensan and his supply of the illegal drug Bloody-Eye. Spike's concern for the safety of Asimov's partner, an apparently pregnant woman named Katerina, complicates the hunt, and the episode's tragic ending sets the tone for the rest of the show. The first episode of the live-action adaptation is a direct translation of this episode, with some filler added to expand the narrative.

For decades, Hollywood has struggled to adapt anime, a type of Japanese animation. The genre has a distinct visual style—lush backgrounds, sleek camera movement, exaggerated facial expressions—that looks uncanny with live actors.

On Nov. Watanabe, who was working at the animation studio Sunrise, made his solo directorial debut with Cowboy Bebop in The series was originally envisioned as a project that would sell toys, through a sponsorship from Japanese company Bandai. But Bandai pulled the sponsorship when the initial episodes were produced. While Cowboy Bebop has its comedic moments, the show abounds with violence and interrogates concepts like existentialism and fatalism—not exactly the most marketable material for toy makers. After a separate subsidiary of Bandai stepped in, the project was allowed to continue without a connection to toys. When Cowboy Bebop had its original run on TV Tokyo beginning in April , only 12 of the 26 episodes, plus a special, were aired due to its mature subjects.

Few shows can mix and match genres like Cowboy Bebop. Cowboy Bebop 's narrative tone oscillates from funny and laid-back to dark, dramatic, and even scary. All 26 episodes or "sessions" feature amazing animation and are definitely worth watching with each episode managing to deliver something fresh and unique to the audience.
