I dislike vampires as love interests. In short, I like the hunters. I first heard about Vampire Knight several years ago. It was about a high school where there is a Day Class for humans and a Night Class for the vampires, which at the time I thought was a neat twist. Vampire Knight beat Twilight to market by a year.

The cheerful Yuuki Cross and the gruff Zero Kiryuu are members of the disciplinary committee at Cross Academy, which houses two very distinct classes: the Day Class and the Night Class. Their job consists of upholding order between the classes when they switch out.
While that may not seem like an especially difficult task, the Day Class is unaware of the truth behind the Night Class—their utterly gorgeous students are vampires.
Ten years ago, Yuuki was saved from a vampire attack by Kaname Kuran, a Pureblood vampire. Zero is a tall young man with short straight silver hair, snowy-white skin and lavender eyes, the latter varying in shade from the manga to anime. Zero is a casual dresser and is usually wearing his school uniform incorrectly, with the vest and red tie exposed from under his black jacket. He also wears five silver earrings; three on his left ear cartilage top and two on his right bottom. Zero bears a tattoo , the Hunter's Seal, on the left side of his neck, originally used to suppress his vampire side, and later used to tame him. He has grown taller as the series progresses. Zero is generally a composed person.
They have a daughter named Ren Kiryu. Yuki and Zero met at ages 12 and 13 respectively, [1] when Zero was taken in by Kaien Cross into his home. Yuki immediately took to the young boy and looked after him the night they met, cleaning the emotionally fragile Zero's wounds.
