Sym-Bionic Titan follows the lives of Ilana, Lance and Octus, three alien teens that crash-land on Earth while attempting to escape an evil General who has taken over their home planet, Galaluna. Ilana, princess of Galaluna, Lance, a rebellious but capable soldier, and Octus, a bio-cybernetic robot, must now blend into everyday life in Sherman, Illinois.
Posing as high school students, Lance and Octus work to conceal Princess Ilana from General Modula and his hideous space mutants sent to harm the sole royal heir of Galaluna.
This motley trio makes a real effort to navigate high school life, all while saving the planet and themselves from an onslaught of inter-galactic attacks. When called into battle, Octus activates the sym-bionic defense program and Ilana, Lance and Octus come together to form the spectacular cyber-giant Sym-Bionic Titan.

Even my -wife- enjoyed this she just watched with my son and I for the first time. I watched the first ten or so of these while fighting off a cold last week and got addicted. Anyone get a serious Warhammer 40k Imperial Guard vibe from the very badass episode about the invasion of Galaluna? I was half expecting the king to start shooting cowards to spur the men onwards. Every character except Octus is a one-dimensional stereotype. Even the fight scenes usually bore me, which is surprising.

Tartakovsky, who's been roundly praised for creating Samurai Jack and his work on the Star Wars: Clone Wars miniseries, brings his trademark solid colors, zippy humor, and gargantuan monsters for a satisfying Western take on the tokusatsu genre. The pilot episode of Sym-Bionic Titan "Escape To Sherman High" keeps the exposition quick and light — this is a good thing, as it leaves plenty of time for frenetic robot fight sequences. Sym-Bionic Titan 's story should be familiar to scifi fans. Ilana and Lance pose as siblings while Octus disguises himself as Newton, a Buick-sized alpha nerd. The Galaluns have a tenuous grasp of Earth customs, and their technology far eclipses that of their gibbering homo sapien classmates. Despite their politeness and message of peace and goodwill, Octus and Ilana are dubbed "doofuses.

Learning to live in a humanoid house is just as tricky as transforming into Titan to save your classmates from an alien goo-creature. Good luck getting out of that mess! After their home planet is invaded, a young soldier, a Princess, and a robot crash land on Earth and attempt to blend into our society by attending high school. However, their troubles soon follow and the trio is forced to defend their new home by unlocking the secret of the Titan robot. Ilana tries to make their new world into their home, but Lance's overprotective nature puts it all in jeopardy when he unwittingly alerts a Mutraddi Monster to their presence. Octus is stuck in the middle when Lance and Ilana's internal conflicts cause problems at home and inside the Titan robot.

And it doubly sucks when the show is cancelled before its time. When it first came, it was I was 14 years old and at the time, had backed away from my love of cartoons due to bullying in middle school. But, as an adult, and having become more comfortable with my interests, I heard the one-season show was actually really good. But it was on Netflix, so with all my admiration for Genndy Tartakovsky, I decided to give it a go. I watched the entire thing in about three days…which aside from showing how much I enjoyed also clearly displays my inherent lack of self-control. While, the character designs can be jarring and hideous at times; everything else makes up for it. Sym-Bionic Titan follows three refugees — Princess Ilana, soldier Lance and AI-robot Octus — who escape to Earth from their home planet of Galaluna after the evil General Modula wages war on the planet with the help of Mutraddi beasts.
It follows Ilana, a princess from the planet Galaluna who flees to Earth after her home planet is attacked by a ruthless general and his army of vicious alien creatures called the Mutraddi. Joining her on her trip to Earth are Lance, a soldier tasked with protecting Ilana, and Octus, a cybernetic robot who can disguise itself as a human male. The three heroes pose as high school students in order to blend in, but the Mutraddi come to Earth to hunt them down.

It debuted on September 17, Lance, Ilana, and Octus crash-land on Earth while fleeing the evil General Modula, who has conquered their home world, Galaluna. They try to blend in with Earth society by going to high school at the nearby town of Sherman, Illinois. During their first day at school, Modula sends a fire monster to destroy the princess. While battling the beast, Lance, Ilana, and Octus form "Sym-Bionic Titan" with their robotically enhanced and energized battle-suits and defeat the monster, with some help from the mysterious Solomon. The Rift Gate opens up, and a spaceship rockets out of it into Earth. A passing satellite detects the ship, and transmits a warning.
Modula reappears to wreak havoc for our protagonists down on Earth. The creature this week was cool and as always, it was nice to see the Titan fighting, but it felt as though the Sym-Bionic Titan action served a secondary role as a cut away to emphasize the high school drama. I really enjoyed watching Kimmy swoon over Octus and get excited over planning out all the details of going to the dance with him.
