Best of courage the cowardly dog fest

Ah, Courage the Cowardly Dog. In time, I grew to love its weirdness and I realized that there was more to this show than giant, gross, talking feet The Clutching Foot, not my favorite episode and jump scares. It actually had a lot of heart. He says this whenever he has to do something to save Muriel or do something that requires a lot of work.

Courage the Cowardly Dog (1999 - 2002)

There's something about being scared as a kid that's kind of entrancing. Courage the Cowardly Dog was always a show that gave me nightmares , but it also captivated my young mind in a way I couldn't describe. It was the definition of finding something so strange you just want to look away from it, but you can't. Despite being a children's show, there were definitely some creepy Courage the Cowardly Dog episodes that our parents should not have let us watch at such a young age. I was a huge scaredy cat as a kid and had no tolerance for anything even remotely spooky, so I'm not really sure how I managed to watch every episode of this as a kid. Still, it continues to be one of my favorite cartoons. If it wasn't the twisted storyline about a dog forced to protect his beloved owner and her cranky husband from the paranormal beings that surround them, it was the varied animation styles, creepy music, and surreal in-depth characters that haunted me in a way my six-year-old brain could barely grasp.

‘Courage the Cowardly Dog’ Was a Genuinely Terrifying Cartoon

Being a TV show with a two-episode block format, I decided to choose one of the episodes from each block as noted below, instead of the full block. The one she orders comes with a bonus: a demon, which takes over her body. Courage must find a way to get rid of the demon and the new mattress.

Best Courage The Cowardly Dog Moments, Ranked

You dial back the clock to the early s, and the animated offerings that were busting out of studios at the time was simply amazing. And then there was Courage The Cowardly Dog. Dude, what a show. Who would have thought that a horror comedy for children starring a tiny purple dog who had to deal with all manner of crap visiting the middle of Nowhere, could be so entertaining.

He lives in the middle of nowhere with his owners: Eustace, the greedy, self-centered, grouchy farmer and Muriel, the loving and too-sweet-for-her-own-good wife.

They are forced to learn to breathe underwater, swim around and eat fish food. Courage has to find a way to get them back to their life on land. They agree, and the Farmer shines as his nastiness is encouraged. She woos the Farmer and drags him down into her puddle world. Muriel is heartbroken, so Courage must save the Farmer.

The show never shied away from pushing the boundaries, and many felt that the cartoon was too frightening for children due to the intense plots and creepy villains who try to ruin Courage, Eustace, and Muriel's lives. Courage was the cute, brave, and unrelentingly loyal dog who did anything to protect his owners. There was always some mischief happening in Nowhere, Kansas, and the three residents were frequently the victims of plots from evil-doers and paranormal beings.
