Adventure Time has been one of the most mind-blowing and revolutionary cartoon series in recent memory. Can Fionna And Cake live up to the legacy? Cartoon Network has always been known for its original, forward-thinking cartoons, and this is evidenced in one of their most beloved series of the last decade: Adventure Time. The fantastical coming-of-age animated series premiered in early to fan and critical acclaim and ran for over two hundred episodes on the network. HBO will partner with Cartoon Network to develop the series. Set in an alternate universe where everyone has been gender-swapped, the episode follows Fionna the Human and her adoptive sister and best friend Cake the Cat on an adventure with Prince Gumball.

The new show will follow Fionna and her magical cat Cake in a brand new, half-hour animated series. Fionna and Cake were first introduced in the third season of Adventure Time as female versions of Finn and Jake. The musical episode also included alternate takes on other Adventure Time characters including Prince Gumball and Marshall Lee a male version of Marceline. The original episode was written and storyboarded by Adam Muto and Rebecca Sugar, and Muto will return as showrunner and executive producer for the Fionna and Cake spinoff. All the while a powerful new antagonist determined to track them down and erase them from existence, lurks in the shadows.

The exploits of a boy and his magical dog are chronicled in this cartoon set in the surreal Land of Ooo. Lady Rainicorn Niki Yang gives birth, turning Jake into an overprotective dad.
