Hitorijime My Hero focusses on the romance story between two of the side characters in Hitorijime Boyfriend. Started airing: 8 th of July Number of episodes: 12 Episode duration: 24 minutes. Despite his title Kousuke soon becomes the hero that Masahiro needs, someone who looks out for him. Hitorijime My Hero, also known as My Very Own Hero, follows their relationship as it develops from apprenticeship to a romance. One of the lesser point of this anime was the animation, or rather lack of consistency in animation. The quality of the animations varied quite a bit, which stood out to me a lot and was bothersome when watching. Some running sequences, for instance, were done so poorly that it took the drama away from the moment. This anime builds up to it quite a bit, as it would take time for the characters to come together and come to terms with their feelings for one another.

Hitorijime My Hero was the token boys love anime of the summer season, and as not many mangas of this genre are adapted into anime, I was pretty excited to see what would become of this one. The story follows the love stories of two couples — Masahiro and Kousuke; Kensuke and Hasekura — as they try to reconcile their feelings for each other. Based off the mangas Hitorijime Boyfriend and HItorijime My Hero , the story was licensed for the anime adaptation by Sentai Filmworks and picked up by Encourage Films for the animation. A lot of the comedic moments are played out through chibi-fied characters, so you will also see many scenes where they switch back and forth with their more simplified designs. The chibis definitely add a sense of light-heartedness to the show, but can run the gamut in amount of detail and design. What I did find myself liking, however, were the opening and ending.
