How Looney Are You? Take Our Cartoon Trivia Quiz!

There are few cartoons that are able to stand the tests of time the way the Looney Tunes cartoons have done. Known as both the Merry Melodies series and Looney Tunes series in their earlier years, these cartoons featuring the likes of Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck and the ever-clever Bugs Bunny have been watched by generations. This episode, unlike most modern-day cartoons, clocks in just around 7 minutes.

And that makes it easily digestible for this generation of children who can binge TV series straight or watch clips back to back on YouTube. The plot is simple. Elmer Fudd is out and ready to hunt. But Bugs and Daffy are at odds about what or rather, who Fudd should be hunting. Is it Duck season or Rabbit season? With all that said, in this generation, Cartoon Network, Boomerang and other platforms have done a great job of filtering out the more troublesome cartoons for the more wholesome ones.

For one, you have the star of the show, Bugs, who displays that loveable, hilarious charm. Daffy walk right into being the hunted one. Daffy, too, is at his peak self as he frustratingly tries his best to outwit Bugs.

And despite this being one of the episodes where Daffy gets it absolutely handed to him by Elmer Fudd, you have to admit his tossed, upside-down and backwards duckbill is enough to make at least a child laugh every time his plans literally explode in his face. Rabbit, Duck! Of course, there are other great characters that make up the Looney Tunes brand outside of Bugs, Daffy and Elmer Fudd. Coyote and Road Runner, and so many more.

The list goes on and on for iconic characters. And today, they star in the appropriately titled New Looney Tunes , which is a new take on the old cartoons for this generation of kids.

For Bugs Bunny's 80th Birthday, Here's a Guide to All the 'Looney Tunes' on HBO Max

There are volumes of Warner Brothers cartoons starring Bugs Bunny, but the ones that fans know and love are often products of an era known as the Golden Age of Animation. For a period of about 40 years, between the s and s, American animators would produce some of the best, most groundbreaking, and innovative cartoons in the world. Plenty of these innovations came from a certain team of animators working out of a trailer they had nicknamed Termite Terrace, and these artists had a reputation for being subversive, satirical, and unapologetic. Most of the Bugs Bunny shorts that have stood the test of time carry those universal themes of parody, satire, and thinly veiled political commentary. Thanks to our hero, Bugs Bunny, every ridiculous problem or obstacle is defeated with a healthy mix of sarcasm, wacky props, and clever tricks. Bugs Bunny may be lazy, snide, and cruel to those that cross him, but he's a compassionate fellow underneath it all. So when he finds a lost penguin he takes on the duty of seeing the little guy get safely home. The problem is, you can't assume too much about where someone is from in this day and age. After an epic journey to the South Pole that seems to be one mistake after another, it's revealed that this little penguin is just as American as his Brooklyn-born counterpart. The moral of the story is, you have to do the right thing, even if it's inconvenient or totally counter-logical.

When Mickey Mouse's popularity first took off, rival studios struggled to create a character that could compete. Out of all the characters to come from the early 20th century, Bugs Bunny has been one of the most successful. The rascally rabbit has been entertaining audiences since his official debut in and has become one of the most legendary animated icons.
