Mieruko chan anime story

One of the things I like about anime, perhaps the main thing is that it can tell stories that would not work as live as a live-action TV show. Miyuki-chan, announced this week, may be such a show. This mysterious sight came out of the blue, and now Miko encounters grotesque horrors. How does young Miko cope with this? She does her best to ignore them.

Since my partner read it and enjoyed it, I shouldn't have worried. Anything truly bad that happens is implied and not explicit in the story. I liked how this story had a bit of a twist, and that it had a horror-like ending where there was view spoiler [another monster besides the obvious one, and that Zen was not as innocent as he appeared even after having been shown to be innocent of killing the cats hid As a pet lover, specifically a cat lover, I was a little worried where this one would go.

This arc was a little sentimental, for a fairly obvious reason, and I'm curious how much I'll enjoy it once or if cats are no longer a central story element.

By far the best volume so far. Miko is trying to muster up the strength to face these ghost. After going through a haunted house like area with her friends she finally takes the first step forward.

The rest of the volume deals with Zen, the creepy looking teacher from the last volume, and we get to get his past and find out if he's really kidnapping cats and murdering them. This is a great volume with a lot of awesome shots.

The art is really selling this series so far but this one also has two By far the best volume so far. The art is really selling this series so far but this one also has two massive twist.

One is like "Whoa, nice" and the other lingers and makes you try to guess what it means. I really loved both and without giving it away, added to two characters at the same time. I can't recommend this series enough for horror fans and supernatural fans with a little bit of comedy thrown in.

Who knew that Hana would go from boob gag to center of Miko's emotional world? Trigger warning for, as you might expect, implied animal abuse. It was close - there are two panels here that were just really incredibly touching to me. Ah, pets. Why is he so mean to cats? Why is Miko being warned not to look at him?

What is happening to poor Hana? All is explained and I love how this book juggles traditional teenager goofing around with its more horrific elements - the scene where Miko is trying to hide in the bathroom and is menaced by a spirit is actually pretty amusing and has a fun capper.

Hana has always been a food monster, but the extremes it goes to in this volume would put a hobbit to shame. The three of them form a great dynamic together. So apparently that was the cue for it to blow my expectations away. Feb 28, Nore rated it really liked it Shelves: manga. There's a plot, and I'm not only extremely interested, I'm emotionally invested in Mieruko's safety and her relationship with Hana. There's still a bit of fanservice - the man really loves showing the outline of panties - but it remains infrequent enough that I can ignore it and focus on the story.

I love it. Another amazing volume. I really enjoyed the story with the new teacher. It was actually very sweet and it nice seeing Miko learn how to understand and use her abilities to help others. The haunted house event was hilarious. Miko laughing and finally being able to show fear towards something was really cute and funny. I loved so much about this volume and can't wait for the next one. Aug 21, Natascha rated it really liked it. There are indeed some wholesome ghost cases, and I must admit now that I've read more about Mieruko's abilities and seeing her actively choosing to help her friends with it, I'm gonna finish reading the whole story.

So good Slice of life coupled with supernatural horror hits the spot! Looking forward to future volumes. Hopefully we get to learn more about the things Miko sees and why she sees them. Mother knows best. I simply love this series A mix of silly and horrific is the way of the world as main character Miko continues to see spirits of the most gruesome variants and continues to make excuses while trying to ignore them to the best of her ability.

Whatever has granted her the ability to see death so profoundly we discover while her and Hana's new friend may not be able to see the worse of the spirits but she can see life auras unlike Miko making Miko's mysterious and sudden sight for Mother knows best.

Whatever has granted her the ability to see death so profoundly we discover while her and Hana's new friend may not be able to see the worse of the spirits but she can see life auras unlike Miko making Miko's mysterious and sudden sight for ghost seem even darker wherever it came from. I am looking forward to seeing how Miko will learn and adapt now that the watch dogs of the old god or so I assume from last volume has saved her once more from a spirit unable to control itself around her.

Heading into Volume 3, Miko's will is becoming stronger and she is able to release some of the pressure of her situation and directly address a few of the spirits. Curious to see how this will play out. Highlights: - Hana's appetite continues to grow and Yuri is caught eating in the bathroom, which causes her to join with Miko and Hana for lunches.

This leads to some very hilarious food-driven scenes, but Heading into Volume 3, Miko's will is becoming stronger and she is able to release some of the pressure of her situation and directly address a few of the spirits.

This leads to some very hilarious food-driven scenes, but also, Miko is able to stand up and address her fears for the first time, because that's something that would normally happen in a haunted house. When Miko follows him after school to investigate him, she discovers the monster is the spirit of his overprotective mother. After seeing how horrible it is affecting him as well as being the source of Hana's extreme hunger , Miko stands up to the monster and asks her to leave her teacher alone.

The monster chases after Miko and the protective spirits kill the mom-ster, which is the third and final time they will help. Really liking this series.

Looking forward to possibly watching the anime as well. Oct 08, Mehsi rated it it was amazing Shelves: don-t-turn-off-the-lights , manga-light-novel , i-see-dead-people , the-butler-did-it , twinkling-stars , warning-english-books , halloween This was a good volume!

Way too good actually, haha. I love that we get more story and less shorts with monsters and Miko trying to get through her days. I loved that Miko fully went for it, because she knew things were affecting her friend, Hana. I loved that Julia and Miko are getting closer though really I wish they would just talk because there are some serious things going on.

And there is so much more. I was scared out of my wits at times and thrilled with the way the story is going. I wasn't planning it Nov 27, Rebo rated it liked it Shelves: paranormal-supernatural , manga-graphic-novels , psychic , horror , humor , yokai , seen-the-anime. Content warning: Body horror, child abuse, car accident This has to be my favorite volume so far.

Despite being a slice-of-life, this series really shines when it tells one consistent story from start to finish.

Mieruko-chan Review – Spooky, But Surprisingly Wholesome

Mixing horror and comedy is nothing new, but with the Mieruko-chan manga, writer-artist Tomoki Izumi is doing something truly fresh and exciting. In manga and anime, horror is a well-trodden genre. In fact, the king of that genre, Junji Ito, is arguably the best horror writer working today sorry Stephen King fans. But fans of horror manga need to pay attention to what Tomoki Izumi is doing with his Mieruko-chan manga. The Mieruko-chan manga begins with Miko, a teenager who, whilst minding her own business one rainy day, comes face-to-face with a twisted and visually unsettling ghoul at a bus stop. The ghoul asks Miko if she can see it and she smartly chooses to ignore it, instead opting to look around for the bus and check her phone. The ghoul then gives up and walks away, but it is only the first. Miko is cursed to see the ghouls that haunt every single space, public and private, but that remain invisible to almost everyone going about their daily lives. Right off the bat, the premise of the Mieruko-chan manga is chilling. Miko is constantly being surprised by the sudden presence of a grotesque ghost: in her classroom, on the street, and even at home.

Horror is having something of a mini-boom this season, with the micro-genre of horror comedy even getting a bit of a moment. Probably the most hyped among those is Mieruko-chan , an adaptation of a somewhat popular web manga. Passione steps outside the Higurashi box but stays well inside its comfort zone here, both visually and tonally. In the first place, the balance here definitely tilted towards horror over comedy — though it was more creepy than anything. It was the narrative equivalent of upskirting, basically.

Content Warning : grotesque ghostly horror, fanservice. Miko can see ghosts: horrifying, grotesque apparitions that appear throughout her house, her school, and her bus route home. But the pacing of this entire episode, and each individual apparition, leans way more on the horror aspect of this horror-comedy. This dripping, cold sense of unease builds throughout the first half of the episode. Shots linger on cawing crows and dogs barking at supposedly empty space. Bruise-dark rain clouds gather overhead. I was expecting her to brush it off and that to be the joke!
