Ao haru ride review anime

Volume five of Io Sakisaka 's second English-language release Viz previously released Strobe Edge picks up more or less where the anime adaptation cut off. It also marks a shift in Ao Haru Ride 's narrative. Where previous books were more about Futaba trying desperately to get back to the Kou she knew years before while still respecting or at least trying to accept the person he's become, this book finds things heading down a more familiar shoujo romance path. While that may feel disappointing, don't get too worried — it's really only the more standard romance story for the readers, because we are the only ones who are getting both sides of the narrative.

Anime Review: Ao Haru Ride (CUTE…)

Ao Haru Ride had my attentions as early as pre summer The moment I saw the poster, I fell in love with the art style. I have to say the character designs were good and managed to draw me in just based on that. Not to mention it gave vibes of having the potential of being a great slice of life romance anime.

I knew I was going to watch this, and I did. For starters, Ao Haru Ride is a pretty generic shoujo. It does add some variation to the backstory of characters. Most of which, are borderline plausible but still quite fishy to a certain extent. The story unfolds and while there were some good moments, I particularly find the behaviour of the male lead rather inconsistent.

Do guys really behave in this way? It seems like Ao Haru Ride stems from the imaginative world of a female writer also given that the anime is from the perspective of the female lead and when one can easily identify the gender of the writer without even trying, you know that something is wrong.

What gives it away is usually the lack of empathy of the opposite gender. I think this is one big challenge in writing romance. It could have been worst and I know it. Kou, the male lead, seems really unreal to me. He just seems so artificial to me as though he was engineered to play his role. You can also see how some stuff are being elaborated on in a touch and go fashion. He just goes there to sit and listen to other people talk? Are you sure?

What are his motives? What does he gain from going there? She is okay-ish at least even though 90 percent of the show is about her and her monologues. She does come across as someone without her own identity though. It seems like she is living her life for the sake of stalking Kou and conveniently appearing at the right place and right time together with Kou so that plot events can happen.

We get really nothing about her personality. What does she like? What are her interests? Meaning in life? None of that. Only her repeatedly chasing that one fake guy in the series. The other characters are meh. Yuri is not much of a competitor for Yoshioka, and we all know she exist just for the author to flaunt her skills in dramatising girly problems after all, this is a shoujo anime anyway, nothing wrong with that.

But as far as 12 episodes goes, you can safely say nothing really happens to our side characters. Okay enough with all the negatives. On a positive note, Ao Haru Ride does a good job in certain aspects. There are memorable scenes that seem to be etched right deep into my heart. Despite all the cheesy, and unrealistic characters that baffle me, Ao Haru Ride puts them in interesting scenes.

The best part is that a lot of detail is put in during this scene. Smell is something that both our main leads like to talk about a lot. I like that amount of detail. In the earlier episodes, the train scene of Yoshioka discovering what her inner feelings was great. It does delve deep sometimes. Animation and OST were brilliant. The animation, directing and what not does really capture the mood.

Good job there. On a whole, Ao haru ride was a pretty pleasant experience. And I have a feeling season 1 might just be a setup. This seems like the kind of show where you have to invest sometime to really get to the good parts. PS: I am really intrigued to find out how the orange guy at the end will affect the story. He is like the most interesting character so far!

I can see how females will think that this anime is perfect and flawless, especially younger girls. While watching this I really felt that this was written not only for girls but for a younger demographic of girls. About the side story of the teacher-student relationship, yeah I agree. Ao Haru Ride suffers problems because it is merely 1 cour and adapted from ongoing manga.

Surely many things have to be left unresolved. All the side characters barely did anything. Thank You! I see that we are on the same line for this anime! You are commenting using your WordPress. You are commenting using your Twitter account. You are commenting using your Facebook account.

Going into this movie, I was half excited and half afraid. I wanted to do some research first read: see if there was a tragic ending before going into it but finally decided that it was worth risking it. By its end, I was super satisfied because it made me feel like a high schooler all over again. When Tanaka returns, this time under a new name Kou Mabuchi, he stirs up hope in her heart that they were meant to be together all along. The way the story was presented built up to a strong connection between Yoshioka and Kou which was really obvious to everyone except the two of them.

Well – it was no “Let's Fall in Love” If Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun was the series that blurs all the demographic lines, Ao Haru Ride is the.

But Yoshioka is nothing if not sincere, and is willing to confront the question of what this all means for her relationship with Toma. Ao Haru Ride is a modern classic, at least when it comes to shoujo manga, and volume 11 demonstrates why the series is so well loved. In the earliest volumes of the manga, Sakisaka sensei does an apt job of showing how unlikeable the main characters can be, but by this most recent release, we as readers are pulling for them and their happiness, both those we want to see come together as couples and even characters like Toma, who readers might see more as an obstacles in the way of their primary ship. We want all three to be happy, though that may not be possible.
