The show aired one Three Stooges short and a Popeye theatrical cartoon. This was my first introduction to the made for television Popeye series. I was just thrilled there was so much Popeye to watch. As I grew older, watching these same films, I began noticing the numerous mistakes and wanted to know what happened. Several of the Paramount cartoons ended as they did in the Gerald Ray cartoons. A character would conclude singing a song to the Popeye the Sailor Man theme. One of the many products, based on the television cartoons was a popular Halloween costume. Unfortunately, the poor animation in the Jack Kinney efforts and the overall simplification of the character designs tend to cast a negative tone on the entire series.
