There aren't many other anime that create conversation like "Mirai Nikki," also known as "The Future Diary" in English. The show is a mixture of the psychological suspense and God-like mystery of "Death Note," the power-game setup of "Eden of the East," and the violent bloodbath of cult-classic slasher film "Battle Royale. The show was also controversal for its extreme violence and use of sex. Perhaps the core reason why it was so popular to discuss was because is was difficult to determine if the show was actually good or not: even if it was horrible, it had so many plot twists that one couldn't help but watch out of sadistic interest. The plot is a fairly straightforward battle to the death: Yuki gets a surprise when the imaginary God named Deus Ex Machina or "Deus" to his friends he sees in his dreams turns out to be real, and assigns him and 11 other Japanese citizens to be particpants in a game to determine who will succeed him as the God of Space and Time. The game requires each particpant, without knowing the identity of the others, to kill each other.

Gleipnir and Battle Game in 5 Seconds have various characters that receive superpowers from a mysterious entity. After that, they are forced to fight in a death game if they want to survive. He is the prime example of someone who lives only online, totally consumed by the games he plays.

In both these shows, the characters are trapped somewhere where they are forced to participate in a survival game whether they want or not. Continuing the trend from the past six months, UK distributor Anime Limited has revealed what they have planned for the month of June and July via their monthly round-up post on their main website. Starting off the news with a brief recap of the June release schedule. Select titles initially planned for May were pushed back into June Anime Limited licensed the first season in , with that particular release selling out very close to launch. When paired with his diary, it makes her the perfect guardian in this battle. What is the prize for victory? I was disappointed when they introduced the battle royale angle.

Audiences unfamiliar with anime might consort it with other animations typically aimed at kids. This is possibly due to the public perception that anime is constantly brimming with adorable-looking characters and ostentatiously vibrant animations.
