Why you should watch 3-Gatsu no Lion
Sangatsu no Lion started being published in It has 32 chapters so far, and we fans are still waiting for an update since February I started writing this one year ago, haha. In reality, it recently started its 5th volume with its 44th chapter. He is a 5th dan, and considered a very talented player, he even lives off his earnings from SHOGI; and yet, he feels he is living an unaccomplished life, and death haunts his mind quite often. Luckily, he has friends and people who care for him, to lift him up and help him keep going. Thoughts so far: Man I nlove this series. The light-hreated art and atmosphere, the beautifully detailed character development, the relationships, the challenges, the game. This manga juggles with everything it wants to tell you effortlessly, just like life, and so it ends up feeling natural and flowing. The Konda family pretty much adopts Rei into their household, and treat him like a normal kid; not a genius with a bright future who is not doing everything he should with his capabilities, but a boy who is a little lost, and needs a safe place.

While he's able to manage a few cordial relationships with his peers in professional shogi, as well as his homeroom teacher, Rei has a relatively isolated lifestyle in a place that's almost unfamiliar to him.
March Comes In Like A Lion
Even when reading the manga, I thought it was a predetermined outcome that Souya would prevail. In my opinion, if Kiriyama easily overcame his largest possible challenge through a stroke of luck, it would have been antithetical towards the message 3-gatsu has been building up alongside his development. Had he beaten the Meijin here using such a significant crutch, there would be very little satisfaction coupled with a stark emptiness. Room for improvement is demonstrated, and our boy seems to know what he needs to do. Even while Kiriyama played perfectly for the majority of the match, it goes to show how Souya belongs to another dimension in terms of skill, when he capitalised upon a singular slip-up to completely win the match. Though silent throughout their interactions, Souya felt like the one who was looking after Rei.

Plot Summary Rei Kiriyama is a year-old boy who recently started living alone, financed by his salary as a professional Shogi player. Despite his independence, however, he's yet to mature emotionally, and his problems continue to haunt him in his daily life. His relationship with his adoptive family is strained, and he has difficulties interacting with his fellow high school students. Meanwhile, his professional career has entered a slump. Burdened with the heavy expectations placed on him as the fifth to become pro in middle school, his wins and losses are fluctuating as his record and progression into the ranks begin to stagnate. Unlike Rei, they live happily in their modest home, which they warmly welcome Rei into as if he were one of their own. Despite his reservations about becoming too close to the family, he frequently visits, interacting with them and receiving the kind of care and affection he never quite had while under his foster home.
Then, through a chance meeting, he develops a relationship with the three Kawamoto sisters Akari, Hinata, Momo , who hail from a working-class district of the city, and little by little his frozen heart begins to thaw.
