Pran Kumar Sharma, the creator of the beloved Chacha Chaudhary Comics, passed away early on Wednesday morning at a hospital in Gurgaon. He was With a career spanning five decades, the iconic cartoonist will truly be missed. Pran was the man behind the famous comic series Chacha Chaudhary. Pran Sahab was born on August 15, in a small town Kasur, now in Pakistan.

His family moved to Gwalior after partition of the country. Pran Sahab began his career in as a cartoonist for the Delhi-based newspaper Milap with comic strip Daabu. In , he sketched Chacha Chaudhary for the Hindi magazine Lotpot, which went on to make him famous. Chacha Chaudhary, is a middle class Indian, frail but an extremely intelligent old man. His attire includes his trademark red turban, a wooden stick, a waistcoat with a double inside pocket, and a pocket watch.

His household consists of his wife Bini Chachi , a faithful street dog called Rocket and a giant called Sabu. There are several typical traits of this character which includes the fact that he enjoys eating watermelon with relish, and takes off for a walk with Sabu and Rocket, whenever Chachi nags him.
