Lion-O (2011 TV series)
He is the son of king Claudus and brother of Tygra. As current Lord of the ThunderCats , Lion-O is a fearless leader who's ready to jump into the fight, even when it gets him in trouble. He wields the mighty Sword of Omens , the most powerful weapon on Third Earth. Lion-O was born to King Claudus and an unnamed mother. His mother died shortly after childbirth. He never met her. He was chosen by the Sword of Omens at an early age, and he was raised alone by his father Claudus and adoptive brother Tygra. From a young age, Lion-O would always have hope and technology beliefs, much to his father's dismay.

The popular 80s cartoon show Thundercats will say it's name and "Ho" once more as Warner Bros. The new Thundercats will feature anime-style art but also bring "realistic cat-like characteristics" to Lion-O, Mumma-Ra, Panthro, Cheetara, and the rest of the gang. Personally, I've never watched a single episode of the series, but am aware of it due to its place in 80s pop culture. I've been told that the rights to Thundercats were tied up with several different companies and that's why nothing Thundercats -related was moving forward. Also, the timing of the press release is worth noting since Comic-Con is less than two months away.

ThunderCats has never really been good. ThunderCats Roar is out, drawing a ton of controversy for its different style and aesthetics, which leads many people to lament the fate of the once-great 80s cartoon franchise. There have been three major iterations of ThunderCats : the classic series that ran from to , the anime-inspired reboot and the ThunderCats Roar. While all of them have fans and people who fondly remember them, not one of these series are particularly good. But this opinion, of course, deserves to be discussed. It's simply important to acknowledge that the same core complaints being made about ThunderCats Roar are not new to the franchise; they're features that have been there since day one.

His adventures are shown from childhood to adulthood on Third Earth and New Thundera , together with his friends and followers, the ThunderCats. At the beginning of the series, Lion-O is a boy of mere twelve years old. He was among the group of Thunderian nobles to make the trip to Third Earth in the flag ship of the Thundercats , when their planet Thundera was destroyed. During this journey, he aged physically until he became an adult of age twenty-four; this was due to the suspension capsule diminishing but not altogether preventing aging " Exodus ". Coincidentally, such a malfunction did not occur with Wilykat and Wilykit , who were around the same age as himself, though as Lion-O recalls in the series' first episode, his mentor Jaga had mentioned that some aging does take place while in the Suspension Capsules in which he and the other ThunderCats were placed when their flagship was damaged.
Following the destruction of their home, the kingdom of Thundera, the ThunderCats a group of humanoid felidaes are forced to roam the planet Third Earth, in order to find a way to defeat the evil sorcerer Mumm-Ra , who plans on taking over the universe. Story-wise the series attempts to take a much darker and more cinematic approach than the original show, featuring a lot more focus on characterization and more sophisticated themes. Initially planned for 52 episodes, it was confirmed by ThunderCats art-director Dan Norton in early that the show had been cancelled after only one season. On the planet known as Third Earth, the Cats have lived and thrived for generations in the kingdom of Thundera. The Cats are led by Claudus, with his son and heir Lion-O. One night the kingdom is attacked by the Lizard army led by the evil sorcerer Mumm-Ra. With them, the Lizards bring technology a concept unfamiliar to the Cats.
