One day A-Yuan bumps into a pretty gege called Wei Ying and asks him to help his father, who is injured. Or: Wei Ying meets Lan Zhan thanks to a cute and adorable child. Lan Zhan and Wei Ying both have horny thoughts about each other. One day his routine gets disrupted, something happens, and mind you, Wei Ying is used to adjusting far too quickly to adversities of any kind, but this thing, this event that happens, he is just not ready for it.
On his way out of the grocery shop, a kid bumps into him; he is only tiny five at most , scared out of his mind, and clearly running away from something.
The turnip that was sticking out of the paper bag full of vegetables tumbles to the floor and the kid stops, startled. Three things happen in rapid succession, then. Passers-by start to give him strange looks, so he decides to head to the park and wait for his sister there. Little by little, the child seems to feel more at ease. Wei Ying shows him the animals at the park, he points at the particularly pretty bird resting on an oak tree branch, colorful and bright, and makes up a story about its life and its little family, which makes the child giggle.
When his sister finds them, they are both covered head to toe in chocolate ice-cream, and they are both laughing like a full belly laugh at something Wei Ying is showing the child on his phone. From the noises, possibly a cat video. The father, the person whom the little A-Yuan calls baba, well… to say that he is the most handsome person Wei Ying has ever seen would be an understatement.
Even passed out on the kitchen floor, half patched up, with blood gushing out from what looks like a knife wound, he looks so beautiful that for a moment Wei Ying forgets how breathing works. Wei Ying cannot really blame him, who would not be proud to be called his something. Just… just … uh, could you drop by with some food later?
Once she is out of the door, he calls Wen Qing, who is an actual doctor, and while he waits for her to answer, Wei Ying tries his best to recollect that course he took during the last years of college.
Hands on his waist, he looks at the unconscious handsome man. Way to go, Wei Ying. God, fuck, the man smells so good but this is not the time to be thinking horny thoughts.
As Wei Ying cleans the wounds with meticulous care and patches him up, the child watches intensely, as if scared that Wei Ying will hurt his father should he turn around for just a second. Wei Ying does not know his own name anymore. The grip on his wrist tightens, if that is even humanly possible, which makes Wei Ying lose his balance and fall forward. Somehow, Wei Ying manages to get the man laying down on the small couch. Thinking that he might get cold as he sleeps, he asks A-Yuan where they keep blankets and pillows.
A-Yuan diligently shows him to a cupboard which is organized so neatly that Wei Ying almost feels bad to mess it up by taking something out. He picks out a blanket which looks comfy and warm. When he's done rearranging the pillows so that the man is comfortable, he notices that A-Yuan is holding a small blanket in his chubby little hands too.
Wei Ying hugs him and messes up his hair, then nearly cries when he notices that the blanket has little bunnies hopping around printed on it. Which okay. Apparently, his family has to pay a debt and so they have some sort of understanding with the Wen syndicate. At 5AM sharp, Lan Zhan finds his son and the stranger from earlier sleeping soundly on the floor. A-Yuan chose to hug the stranger instead of his favorite plush bunny. Now that he can look closely and that he feels better, the stranger is indeed beautiful.
Sleeping peacefully like that he looks innocent and vulnerable. Lan Zhan, for some strange reason, wants to take care of him. For the first time in his life, he prepares breakfast for someone who is not part of his family, which makes him feel strange, to say the least. The beautiful stranger walks into the kitchen, holding A-Yuan on his hip, as if he belongs there, as if the three of them are family.
Lan Zhan does not speak much, but he makes an effort, after his son enthusiastically tells him how this pretty gege saved his life. That must be the wrong thing to say because he is not in any way, shape or form, prepared for the stunning grin the pretty gege directs his way.
No trouble! And on top of that, I get to have it with the most handsome person I have ever seen! My friend is, though, I can ask her to drop by? If your dad is okay with it, sure!
Lan Zhan does not know what to do with himself. Over the next few weeks a bi-weekly meal with Lan Zhan and A-Yuan becomes a common occurrence. They get to know each other, they make space for each other in their lives. A-Yuan is delighted, he loves spending time with his gege. Wei Ying had never struggled to carry even five or six bags at the same time, but since meeting Lan Zhan, even two bags seem too much!
Lan Zhan does; he carries all the bags, while Wei Ying slings an arm around his, and babbles about his day. Auntie Guo, from downstairs, already thinks Lan Zhan is his boyfriend and who is he to correct her. Lan Zhan follows him upstairs, to his apartment, in silence. The apartment is way less messy now that Lan Zhan helps him clean and it is also child-proofed.
After all, A-Yuan spends a considerable amount of time there too. Lan Zhan, can I bake some cookies for A-Yuan? Please, please, please. I love them too! Lan Zhan? Lan Zhan is ready to leave the country and go to Antarctica, he can leave his son with his brother. However, Wei Ying is still innocently, annoyingly oblivious. Lan Zhan is still recovering from Wei Ying saying his voice is hot but he does and shows Jiang Yanli the cookies.
That makes Lan Zhan almost drop the phone. Wei Ying looks at the cookies contemplatively, before stuttering out a shy answer. Keep your next weekend free! He is mesmerized. The solution he thinks of is also most likely influenced by his struggling dick.
He is not shameless enough to say it out loud, so he just pulls Wei Ying into his lap without a word, and Wei Ying yelps quietly. So Shameless!!! But Lan Zhan was so comfortable!! And he is so sleep-deprived!
He misses Lan Zhan. Well, so much for wanting to spend her day in quiet bliss. Like, you get like this only when you see this … person. I hope. You have been talking about Lan Zhan non-stop snce you fucking met him. Wen Qing pinches the bridge of her nose in between her fingers - the gods help her. From under the table, her cat also hisses in shared understanding.
With the newfound knowledge that he likes Lan Zhan, Wei Ying feels on edge - sure, he has had like crushes? That same night, he decides to go out to a bar with two of his friends, Nie Huaisang and Mo Xuanyu. Now scared for his life, the man leaves, and Wei Ying grins at Lan Zhan. The business partner, Wen Zhuliu, looks mildly concerned when Lan Zhan comes back with another man. The reaction makes Wei Ying grow bolder and he begins to stroke his thigh under the table, his hand gently moving up and down, squeezing his inner thigh every once in a while.
How far can he push him? What will Lan Zhan do next? Will he get annoyed, will he push him away … or….? Could be…. You could tie me up. Wei Ying melts against his side, still reeling from the fact that he nearly made Lan Zhan lose control.
Meanwhile, Nie Huaisang and Mo Xuanyu are observing them with a glint in their eyes - their friend is finally about to get laid! Nie Huaisang winces in sympathy, but still he is as tight-lipped as always about his own love life.
Wei Ying feels warm all over. Wei Ying, who is as sleep-deprived as usual, dozes off in the car and Lan Zhan wakes him up, gently brushing the back of his hand along his cheek.
Weirdly enough, he also has a spare key to his apartment, so he lets himself in. He opens the bedroom door with his foot and drops Wei Ying on the bed as gently as he can. Then, with the same patience and attention he has with his son, he unties his shoes, pulls them off, and leaves them by the bed.
Before he leaves, he also looks for a clean set of clothes for Wei Ying to sleep in and he places it on the chair by the bed so that if he wakes up, he can change easily without having to look for them.

Mapping Fairy-Tale Space: Pastiche and Metafiction in Borderless Tales by Christy Williams uses the metaphor of mapping to examine the narrative strategies employed in popular twenty-first-century fairy tales. It analyzes the television shows Once Upon a Time and Secret Garden a Korean drama , the young-adult novel series The Lunar Chronicles , the Indexing serial novels, and three experimental short works of fiction by Kelly Link. Some of these texts reconfigure well-known fairy tales by combining individual tales into a single storyworld; others self-referentially turn to fairy tales for guidance. These contemporary tales have at their center a crisis about the relevance and sustainability of fairy tales, and Williams argues that they both engage the fairy tale as a relevant genre and remake it to create a new kind of fairy tale. Mapping Fairy-Tale Space is divided into two parts. Part 1 analyzes fairy-tale texts that collapse multiple distinct fairy tales so they inhabit the same storyworld, transforming the fairy-tale genre into a fictional geography of borderless tales. Williams examines the complex narrative restructuring enabled by this form of mash-up and expands postmodern arguments to suggest that fairy-tale pastiche is a critical mode of retelling that celebrates the fairy-tale genre while it critiques outdated ideological constructs. Part 2 analyzes the metaphoric use of fairy tales as maps, or guides, for lived experience.
