Chise is a cute and delicate teenage girl who was transformed into the Ultimate Weapon, even though she wants nothing more than to be a normal girl in love. As the war escalates, we see more of the fearsome destruction inflicted by her on both enemy and friend alike, and we meet the coldhearted Commander Mizuki, an earlier, less powerful version of the weapon Chise has become. Saikano was originally serialized in Shogakukan 's Big Comic Spirits magazine. A live-action movie adaptation was released in Japan on January 28, with Aki Maeda starring as Chise. The Saikano manga and anime series has been licensed and is being distributed by Viz Media in English in North America. Although the city is not mentioned by name in the series, many of the locations used in Saikano can by all probability be found in Otaru-shi , west of Sapporo.

Saikano - Another Love Song
A thirteen-episode anime television series adaptation by Gonzo aired from July to September A live-action film adaptation premiered in Japan in January The anime was later licensed in by Sentai Filmworks and released under the title She, the Ultimate Weapon. The ensuing story is narrated by Shuji through flashbacks while reading Chise's diary. Chise, a fellow student in his class, declares her love for Shuji at the beginning of the series.
