No, tiny Martians live on the red planet and they mistake the two as invaders. However, once we arrive on Mars and the real space explorers ditch our cat and mouse, then the movie can finally centre on their antics! With Jerry adapting just fine and utilising abandoned space equipment, while Tom struggles to start a fire and makes Jerry suffer for his own incompetence. At first, it is pretty funny seeing Tom taking advantage of his size to threaten the Martians but that idea is quickly forgotten as Tom gets easily captured.

There are fucking aliens 2. The big villain was a giant vacuum machine 3. The aliens could kill people, and then reanimate them from what we perceive as death. Have the aliens truly unlocked the meaning of life to be able to do this? Or do they simply have powers beyond our grasp? Are they akin to god? Our gods? Jerry gets an alien gf. Sure it isn't good but there's a throughline of cartoon absurdity that at least suggests it has somewhat of an artistic expression.
But there's a certain charm in that the movie explains how they get on a rocket and how they get stranded and how they get back that's kinda a new outlook on the series.
The animation is crude and there isn't a shred of evidence that the crew making Blast of To Mars took the project seriously. This might have been a good thing, for while they might not have tried their hardest or had the skill to make a good movie, they at the very least seemed to be having fun.
