Since then, over 20 films in the MCU have been released, and most have been huge box office hits. Nearly all of them have been released on Disney Plus. The good news is that most of the upcoming MCU lineup for and beyond will also eventually make their way to Disney Plus. However, we decided not to add them to our main list as they are not officially part of the MCU movies.

The problem was that the movie itself was so very boring. Most of the Eternals are as dull as toast as characters, and while the action sequences were good, they were also brief, and too few of them in the plot.

The movie itself has lots of Saturday afternoon movie serial action, and we get some great performances from Chris Evans as Rogers, and Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull. This movie also sets up lots of storylines that will be followed up on in other MCU movies and TV shows. The first Thor movie turned Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston into movie stars as the Asgardian thunder god Thor and the mischievous adopted brother Loki, respectively.
Odin sends him to Earth as punishment and takes away his God-like powers. As with many Disney Plus Marvel movies on this list, the release of Iron Man in was considered a risk.
He was also headlining the first film from Marvel Studios, which wanted more control of its characters in movies. Directed by John Favreau, Iron Man was a breath of fresh air in superhero movies. Downey Jr. He creates the Iron Man suit, partially out of necessity, to combat the use of his own weapons.

The release was worth it for the most part. However, Vers slowly learns the truth about herself, the Kree, and the Skrulls. In short, her life is a lie, and she soon figures out her true heritage, her massive powers, and her mission as human Carol Danvers. Captain Marvel is also technically the only other period movie in the MCU, set mainly in the s. That means lots of great references and music. Plus, we get to see Nick Fury before he showed up at the end of Iron Man. The end result is an entertaining space adventure that happens to be down to Earth.
It also sets up some things for Avengers: Endgame. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. Released in , it manages to be both an intimate character study and a huge epic space adventure. However, Peter gets the shock of his life when his father Ego shows up.
However, it would not be a movie without some conflict. Peter and the rest of the Guardians soon learn the truth about Ego and his plans for the universe. This was a pleasant surprise, as we were introduced to the first Asian-themed MCU hero. Simu Liu is great as the title character, a man who wants to live an ordinary life with his friends in the US.

There are some excellent action and fight sequences in this movie, and we hope to see a lot more of Shang-Chi in future Marvel films on Disney Plus. Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe concluded with this huge epic film co-written and directed masterfully by Joss Whedon. Characters and storylines linked and combined for the past four years finally came together, and it was completely seamless.
The film could have been a convoluted mess. However, thanks to some clever writing and directing from Whedon, it became the comic book epic we had been waiting for. The final post-credit scene is just a taste of things to come. After several years of releasing MCU films with fairly well-known characters, this movie was considered a risk. Almost no one outside of comic book readers had heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Also, this was not really a superhero movie; it was a space fantasy film. The director and co-writer used the tapestry of the MCU to create this tale of some very mismatched and damaged characters. Quill, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot all team up to fight off a maniac who wants to kill everyone on the planet Xandar. Guardians of the Galaxy meets and somehow exceeds Star Wars as a great space fantasy movie.
This is easily the best of the three Thor stand-alone movies. Chris Hemsworth offers his best performance as the God of Thunder, who, in the space of the opening few minutes, loses his dad Odin, sees his hammer destroyed, and then has to avoid being killed by his previously unrevealed sister Hela Cate Blanchett.
While she is taking over Asgard, Thor and Loki find themselves on a planet where gladiatorial contests are the main entertainment. He wants to take over Wakanda and use its technology to exact revenge on a world he believes has belittled him and his race. Killmonger is a great villain because he has some interesting points to make, even if you might not like his methods for solving these issues.
The final result is a clash of fists and ideals, pitting Cap and his group against Iron Man and his team. Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame are really just two parts of the same massive five and a half hours superhero epic. Infinity War is the story of the main villain Thanos, played terrifically with some motion capture animation by Josh Brolin.
The Avengers try to stop him from accessing the six Infinity Stones, which Thanos needs to carry out his task. Endgame reveals the aftermath of the first battle between The Avengers and Thanos. The first third of this three-hour movie is a post-apocalypse film, followed by a heist movie in the second third.
