31 "Sex And The City" Behind-The-Scenes Facts That'll Change The Way You Watch The Show Forever

Published at: Oct. CST by staff. About two weeks ago my wife and I stumbled across a film crew in downtown Chicago doing some filming. The scene involved a blue smashed up Lebaron almost running down some pedestrians crossing the street. The car was driven by a man dressed in all white including a white mask so that he could be removed later digitally and Bullwinkle inserted.

I spoke with a crew member and was told that Bullwinkle is a lousy driver and is constantly crashing the car. He actually prefers to drive on the sidewalk. In addition to the car, they had life size Rocky and Bullwinkle manequins. They weren't used in the shot and I assume are used only for getting an idea how a shot will look. I will email some pictures of the scene.

I don't know about you, but I have an extremely morbid, car-wreck neck turn feeling towards this project. It's just so damn bizarre that anyone would want to turn this into a live action feature length film We'll see.

The two animated stars have shot some of the college protest scenes that day, and right now are getting ready for bed like the rest of the cast of characters. Rocky put a wedge in the door in case other co-stars wanna stop by. Bullwinkle has been keeping his emotions together throughout filming, all those students booing him and all, but now he had to let it out. We hear the scene echoing through his head for a moment as his eyes fill with tears. The voices fade out and Bullwinkle then starts to cry, covering his face. Rocky goes by his side and hugs him.

Jay Ward's original Rocky and His Friends show, which ran in various incarnations on ABC between , was very much a product of its times, featuring not only insufferably bad punning a Ward specialty but also a clear Cold War mentality, displayed to fine effect in the villain's oversized Eastern European accents and drab trench coats. Not so far-fetched, is it? Naturally, Rocky the flying squirrel, with his blue aviator's cap and goggles, and dull-witted Bullwinkle come to the rescue, with an assist from FBI agent Karen Sympathy Perabo. Fans of the original series, and I count myself among them, will find that little has changed on the surface.

We talked about the quantum leap in the evolution of animation technology since the original series' debut as one of the first cartoons produced specifically for television, finding the right cast for these iconic roles, and landing on the right tone to please returning fans and hook modern audiences.
