Filled with awesome robots, aliens, wars and soap opera theatrics, many of my childhood mornings were spent transfixed to my TV, waiting to see what happened next. Even today, the show stands out as a technical marvel. Nobody can deny the originality and imagination of Sid and Marty Krofft.
This DVD is certainly a testament to that. The best episodes in season one are the ones that really get into the moral issues. Often, the resolutions are more bleak than they are uplifting. The situations that Charlie Brown and company find themselves in are everyday[…]. Some are still fun, intentional or not, while others are unbearable. Blending big storylines adapted from the pages of the comic with admirable character development, the animated X-Men cartoon sets the bar for others in the superhero genre.

Film Review: ‘Yogi Bear’ May Send Viewers Into Hibernation

The perennial trickster Yogi and his Jellystone Park pal Boo Boo Bear are among the more popular characters from the Hanna-Barbera stable, although their antics have always appealed more to youngsters than adults. The film certainly had some of the ingredients right. And Timberlake loses himself in the more cautious yet easily swayed Boo Boo.

So let me start by saying, spectacular vocal work from Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake. These two have their character voices down pat and really brought the characters vividly to life. Aykroyd refused to listen to any of the tapes, preferring to do his own take on the classic character. Tom Cavanagh plays Ranger Smith in his normal manner. This role could have actually been a little more serious in order to have something to balance out the wackiness of talking bears and slapstick stunts.

With Dan Aykroyd channelling Daws Butler, the voice actor for the original Yogi Bear animated series of the early s, this 3D film ably blends live-action and animation, but the technical concerns have been given far more attention than the screenplay. While its broad humour and unsophisticated plot are geared toward small tykes, Yogi Bear features an admittedly impressive melding of the CG-rendered Yogi and Boo Boo with their live-action human counterparts. Unfortunately, instead of being manic or cynical, Yogi Bear simply feels phoned-in, from its save-the-park storyline to its obligatory action sequences to its pop-culture references aimed at parents who will be dragged to this film by their children.
He was reputedly "smarter than the average bear" and it seems that he is more durable too. Yogi, the hirsute cartoon hero who once stole picnic baskets from the campers in "Jellystone Park", is to make his comeback in a tailor-made Hollywood movie. Yogi Bear, which is expected to start shooting next month in New Zealand, will blend live-action with CG animation in its bid to resuscitate the defunct TV favourite.
