Ever since I was a kid, I was obsessed with cartoons and animations. My Obsession for Disney never ended, in fact, I am still quite a Disney buff. My all-time favorite was Aladdin! Now the cartoon was perfect in every way, and of course, the highlight being Genie voiced by Robin Williams, I mean it was picture perfect in every freaking way!

The movie became a classic, spawning a Broadway musical and a live-action remake that hits theaters this weekend. But how much does the big screen Aladdin resemble its source material?
The heroine, Scherherazade, is married to a murderous king, who kills his new wives one day after wedding them. Dating back as far as the 10th century A. After Badr al-Budur is no longer married, Aladdin begins to woo her in earnest, using multiple wishes from the genie to dazzle her and her father with gold, jewels, a splendid palace, servants, soldiers and fine horses. After the pair are wed, the wishes continue, and more fabulous treasures and wealth are accrued.

The new live-action Aladdin is just the latest in a line of revamped releases from Walt Disney Pictures. In recent years, Disney has shifted their focus towards bringing their original animated stories to life, combining their classic appeal with a refreshing sense of modern perspective. Aladdin is no different. With stunning visual imagery, nostalgic emotional callbacks and an approach that centers on empowerment, the movie had an impact. While it ' s still far from perfect, it was an undeniably enjoyable watch, in large part due to subtle changes from the original cartoon that really do make all the difference.
