While it hasn't officially been announced by Lucasfilm, a new report claims a second season of Star Wars: Visions will arrive this year. These critically acclaimed intellectual properties are rife with the potential to expand their lore through an international anime collaboration. They might not hail from the furthest reaches of the galaxy, but each of the creatives behind Star Wars: Visions carries a wealth of anime experience. Star Wars: Visions enjoyed a liberating storytelling structure that explored the Galaxy, and Avatar Studios could do the same thing. Star Wars: Visions is an anime anthology that showcases the interpretation of several anime studios on the Star Wars universe. The Book of Boba Fett could include an encore performance. Recent Star Wars projects haven't been afraid of moving away from Jedi and lightsabers.

In this short minute story, most of the world including the village, characters, most objects are animated in black and white. Lightsabers, blaster shots, and a few other "light" technologies are the only pops of color on the screen. This aesthetic decision is worth further analysis. The galaxy far, far away is no stranger to memorable animated television. Fans may be surprised to learn that the first "Star Wars" animated series, "Star Wars: Droids," premiered back in Later, the prequel trilogy-era animated series " Star Wars: The Clone Wars " and original trilogy prequel series " Star Wars: Rebels " have become beloved additions to the franchise canon. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy first announced the new show during a Disney investors call back in December , alongside announcements like the reveal of an Ahsoka Tano spinoff series and a Rogue Squadron movie from "Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins. Anime is a beloved and distinct form of animation, which left many "Star Wars" fans excited to see the iconic sci-fi property in a brand new way.

This new Star Wars show might change that. Most of this stuff is painfully white, or, at the very least, created by the very recognizable Disney brand.

Overlaid with Japanese narration, the trailer shows off some impressive animation, filled with brand new heroes, villains, aliens, blasters and, of course, all-new lightsabers. In one quick scene, an evil Sith-looking character pulls out an eight-bladed red lightsaber contraption, which begins twirling around so fast it becomes a blur and deflects incoming blaster fire from a droid holding a gatling gun. She faces off with a young male hero who has a blue lightsaber, but the woman is able to control her red lightsabers like whips and wraps them around his blade. The two face off in the wreckage of a Star Destroyer, blasting red and blue force lightning at each other in a powerful showdown. Both Japanese and English versions of the series will be released.

With nine original episodes telling unique Star Wars stories using the anime medium Star Wars Visions is an exciting new Disney Plus series.
