The Winter anime season is wrapping up, and once again, I am taking the time to share some of my favorite moments from this season. First Impressions: Noucome + Infinite Stratos 2 – 02

The Reject Five: A group of beautiful students, ostracised for their abnormal behaviour. Perverted, inappropriate, and just downright strange; this band of outcasts was been challenged by a team of their polar opposites.

Who would win, the Popular Five or the Reject Five? This big competition is what Noucome had been leading up to for 6 episodes and to be honest, for all the waiting, the payoff was really quite poor.

A fine example of a main event done well is the school festival in the most thought-invoking highschool romcom of the year, Oregairu Another series with a hideously obnoxious title. Even Oreshura Yep, there have been some killer names this year which was essentially just a harem like Noucome had real emotional substance behind its big showcase episode because it spent a lot of time letting the viewer know why each of the girls involved loved the main character.

At its core, Noucome is a harem that is heavily inspired by To LOVE-Ru, and that is made painfully apparent by its rampant use of stock characters and its alien-like lead female. Noucome, on the other hand, has tried to cram eight love interests into seven episodes and thus far it has only given us reason to care for one and she barely even featured in this episode. Not only that, but the reasons for loving her were only given last week!

Admittedly, not every joke hit home and I still have yet to find a single word said or action taken by Ouka to be funny despite how hard it is pushed. I guess that is bound to happen when the anime is aiming for all types of otaku with its mix of archetypal girls, but even so it is unfortunate. Well… We can hope at least. Until next week. NouCome & Nihilism (or: My Mental Hangups are Completely Interfering with this School Love Comedy)

In continuing with the Toxic trend of ranting about characters that bring down otherwise great shows, I am now going to now rant about Yukihira Furano. I hope you will forgive the long post title but given the long anime title, I think it is quite apt. I want to start by clarifying that NouKome or NouCome if you prefer is one of my favorite anime this season. It is funny, touching at times and generally well put together. Though I will admit that my fondness for this anime might stem from the fact that I am not actually watching much good anime this season…. I am quite fond of most of the other characters too.

Without God, individual choice reigns supreme as filtered through subjective experience. However, what if there is no God and you have no choice? Which one is less comforting? Ore no Nounai Sentakushin ga, Gakuen Love Comedy wo Zenryoku de Jama Shiteiru continually presents the idea that life is defined by a series of choices. In its hilarious opening scene, it displays the entirety of human history as a long sequence of binary choices made by every important historical figure across millions of years. Yet the humor of this sequence is largely in how the choices are not really choices at all. At one point, the evolution of man is decided when a monkey makes a choice between walking on four legs, or walking on two legs; and a bird decides that they want to live in the sky instead of on land. Several times, the choice made by a historical figure is between following the natural course of what they intended to do with their lives, and doing something completely different. For the universe to operate in a logical way, choices must follow a logical progression.

Of course I watched it. How could I miss out on the token bad romcom of the season? My personal theory behind such obnoxiously long names is that the marketers are attempting to earn some quick popularity points through forcing viewers to make and use some cutesy abbreviation. Naturally, these shows typically are romcoms with a fair number of crude elements, and also tend to lack significant critical quality.

12 Days of Anime #7 – NouCome – The Longest Three Minutes of My Life in Anime

It was bad, but the last few minutes picked up, but were still nothing special. Unless you want to make sure whoever stays on board is ready for your very worst. Vintagecoats: That one week I watched all of Upotte!! Objectively, I thoroughly disliked all of them, sure. On a certain level, trying to unpack something like these products are interesting to me, as there are still commercial products which are angling for success with their target demographics.

If you were able to say that whole damn title in one breath, then congrats, you win nothing. Life is a series of choices. In it, there are good choices that lead down good paths, and bad choices which lead to not so desirable paths. Noucome…is filled with a bunch of bad, yet hilarious choices. That is, if you choose to read the rest. The anime itself is just as ridiculous as its title.

Kadokawa Shoten published 12 volumes between February and February This curse requires him to select an action from a list of two or three options that appear before him at any time. He has no control over what choices appear. Many of them are weird or perverse and as a result, the curse has tainted his reputation with his classmates and other people around him, making his life difficult.

Toonami fans will have a lot to look forward to in December, as Cartoon Network announced they will play an anime feature film each week. It is likely that most hardcore anime fans have already seen these, but now just about anyone with cable will have the chance to check out these awesome films. As for currently airing stuff, the season is right around the halfway mark for most shows, so things are getting pretty intense. Will Satellizer find the strength to defeat one of the worst scumbags in all of anime? Watch and find out dear friends.
