Hibike euphonium crescent moon dance

First off, the ponytail is back! All show, no tell — just how it should be with these sorts of interactions. Equally enjoyable — albeit completely different in tone — is Kumiko and Reina nudging each other on the train. I was a bit worried when I saw them both with their unmoving expressions, barely acknowledging each other; thankfully, their interactions never fail to entertain me. It actually helped me relate to their stress even more — the whole situation is undoubtably a nerve-wracking one, but add on blistering heats and your mind is bound to go dizzy with all sorts of emotions. But Team Monaca brought some effective support to ease the tension and prepare the band for the competition.

Even if it takes the rest of Newer ». Euphonium , Kyoto Animation presents Kitauji High School Concert Band's performance of Crescent Moon Dance , with the explanation on how they got the technical details almost entirely right while still leaving the overall performance on a level to be expected from a talented high school band.

For comparison, the same piece as animated for the finale of the first season. The actual performance was done by Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, who got a live action version up on Youtube. Several other concert bands have also performed the piece since the series first came out last year.

Euphonium 's soundtrack. Though not a "real" wind ensemble piece and with the sheet music only having been published in Japan, the score is nevertheless available on musescore. For more commentary on the animation technical side of things, Sakuga Blog is running an episode by episode examination of Hibike!

Euphonium season two. For the musical side of things, Thoraxes has rundowns of each episode of both series so far. Both season one and season two are available for legal streaming free on Crunchyroll. My current favorite anime! While I'm interested in the musical side of things I'm much more interested in character interactions.

I'll have to check for a fanfare. I guess I'm the opposite of you evilDoug; I liked all the music stuff but didn't get into the characters at all. This is a great show, and really plays to Kyoto Animation's strengths. This level of detailed, painstaking character animation, for such a long sequence, is practically unheard of for a mid-season episode of a TV anime. Wow, every now and then I get a nice glimpse like this into one of the many genres of possible nerdery and general endless complexity of everything.

I may not understand a lot of what exactly is going on here but somehow that doesn't make it less fun to read over Wow, that was the sort of budget and detail that usually only exists in the wistful imaginations of people who are fans of some niche property and are day dreaming about how it could be done.

Besides the animation, the sound design and editing really stood out. One thing I think they do really well as a studio is using framing and static scenes in what feels like a very purposeful way to establish atmosphere, and not just a convenient way to fill four dozen frames.

As an euphonium player in a school band way back when, I love this to bits. We just played a lot of marches though, and for some reason the hilariously named "Turkey in the Straw". Hilarious to a bunch of 4th graders at least. Really enjoyed season 1 but still haven't started season 2. Seems like as good a time as any for a catch-up binge… posted by danb at PM on November 9, Kyoto Animation is relatively unique in the animation industry in Japan because their animators are all full-time paid employees, rather than project-based contractors, which is the case at most other animation studios.

What that means is that Kyoto Animation can train new staff with the expectation that they will stay at the studio. That in turn leads to quality and loyalty. That episode was really amazing. Kyoto Animation, wow. Wow, they're actually animating correct fingerings and technique?

Mind blown. Stuff like that always annoyed me when watching anime music scenes, but the amount of work that it takes to make it accurate must be substantial.

Kudos to KyoAni. So much geek. Love it. Tags anime. Share Twitter Facebook.

Crescent Moon Dance score?

Euphonium details the personal aspects surrounding Kumiko, Hazuki and Sapphire as they continue practising to make the auditions. Such events include the mini-scandal that arises when Reina is chosen over Kaori to be the trumpet soloist, a love triangle between Kumiko, Hazuki and Shuichi, and Kumiko learning about her own passion for music as she spends more time with Reina. For all of the discussions and debates out there about the character growth in Hibike! Thus, when all is said and done, the final performance shows a band whose members have successfully overcome their conflicts, both internally and amongst one another. This is often the case wherever a journey is undertaken: as things culminate towards the end, the bumps on the path matter less compared to what lessons were learnt from those bumps.

but I think the Hibike Euphonium discord has the pdf files of the music in a pinned message or something. Same with Crescent Moon Dance.

Concert bands were a special place. The ratio of girls to boys was usually around nine to one, but strictly speaking, it was often even more lopsided than that. So it was not uncommon for girls to end up idolizing someone of their own gender. The objects of such infatuated gazes — gazes that were much too fervid to be interpreted as simple envy — tended to either radiate pure femininity or possess a boyish stylishness.

I am an anime fan, obviously. Kumiko and Reina, sharing a bonding moment under the fireworks display. Summary: Kitauji High School's once pathetic wind ensemble has done the seemingly impossible.

After a disappointing defeat at her final middle school competition, Kumiko loses her passion for wind ensemble as she enters her first year of high school. Nowadays, the two genres are practically stapled together, with slice-of-life almost expected to be comedic in nature, mostly due to the popularity and quality that this combo delivers. So, it was perhaps quite the surprise that KyoAni gave us Sound! Euphonium back in , which leans far more into drama than comedy, and results in one of the finest works this medium has to offer, regardless of genre.
