Knowing the author is a stupid commie kind of ruined Youjo Senki for me. All those fuckers saying it was making fun of both capitalism and fascism might've been right, after all. Because I thought Tanya was someone cool to be aspired to, but it was actually a mockery of my ideology. On the other hand the show is kinda removed from the author, he isn't credited for more in the show than as "original creator", it has sort of taken a life of its own. Besides, why even be bothered? If he thinks "communism and democracy" is viable in the same world that brought us the two world wars let him be ignorant.
His "satire" then carries more truth than his "hobbyist" ideology. I haven't read the LN's but some user told me they were kind of chalk and cheese when compared to the anime. Is that true? I tried watching the movie in Japanese, but I just couldn't do it I'll give crunchyroll and funi 3 more months so I kinda skimmed through it and towards the end you see Tanya laughing crazily while spinning around like a ballerina and it got me thinking "this is not something a grown man would do. I know the novels go into more depth about her character and I was wondering if Tanya noticing herself becoming more childlike is something that's ever brought up or is this just one of those anime only moments to make her look more deranged?
