As a decidedly recent fan to the series, I have a slight lack of knowledge regarding everything but I can say that the asthetics and storyline provide some excellent fanservice in terms of the hidden cutscenes, NPC design and coins.
Regarding the gameplay, the control scheme is the standard Dynasty Warriors fare with some minor adjustments and changes across the board. A feature not found in the other games though is Crew Strikes, an ability that allows you to play as a second character for a breif period, granting the player immortality for the duration and providing bonuses in currency and stat-boosting coins.
This will appeal for some time for those who have grown bored of Dynasty Warriors or Warriors Orochi games, but will burn you out after the main story. The music emulates the anime quite well and can lighten or enhance tension, envoke sadness, etc. Lowered score due to difficulty connecting to others in the online mode, but this problem may not occur for those with faster internet. There are far more enemies on screen at once and the two player laggs a little but is far more playable than the predecessor! If you're a fan of One Piece, I recommend.
