A pigeon looks as intimidating as a T-Rex from Jurassic World and so on. The results are hit and miss the second time around. With the novelty gone, Ant-Man and the Wasp can only thrill so much as flying insects. Really, is there any doubt that Pfeiffer will make it out of that Realm? How did she survive three decades without food and water anyway? The cast saves the day. The boyishly handsome Rudd is his usual appealing everyman self, capable enough to get himself out of a jam yet still funny enough to drop punchlines along the way.
The man is just a master at droll comic delivery. You know what? I believe her. She and Rudd are simply fly, along with a hilarious Michael Pena as his loose-lipped former partner in crime. For 10 years, the MCU has defeated its cinematic peers because of its ability to consistently deliver high-quality escapist entertainment. Captain America: Winter Solider is the lone exception. A crafty Part 3, though, can offer redemption. Ant-Man and the Wasp will return. The promise is right there at the end of the credits.

Ant-Man and the Wasp follows all the beats of a second chance rom-com: two love interests are brought back together by fate or chance after a break-up, re-discover what made their relationship so great and get a second shot at finding love. Scott and Hope are an item by the end of Ant-Man , but the events of Captain America: Civil War break them up in both a professional and romantic sense. Of course, fate brings Scott and Hope together again. Hope feels bitter and rightly so because of how Scott implicated her in the Accords , and Scott wants nothing more to make amends. Though Hope insists that the mission she needs him for is strictly professional, it quickly becomes clear the two have not lost feelings for each other. With a second chance rom-com, the two love interests get a chance to work out the problems of their first relationship and have a do-over -- this time on a healthier foundation.
