Cartoon Saloon’s My Father’s Dragon flying onto Netflix
As Entertainment Weekly reports , the movie was released theatrically in China earlier this year. It makes its Netflix debut on June 11th. The Chris Appelhans-directed film follows a similar arc to Aladdin , where a mythical figure grants three wishes to the person who has unleashed it from its confines. In the new Wish Dragon trailer, Wong voices Din, a college student of meager means who is in search of his long-lost friend, Lina.
Din accidentally frees dragon Long voiced by Cho from an ancient tea pot. Long then grants Din three wishes, and Din and Long take off through Shanghai on a quest to reunite the childhood friends. Raya and the Last Dragon is a Disney movie follows all the norms of a usual Disney movie, however it is more beautiful and vibrant than most of the other animated movies that we have seen in recent times. Raya and the Last Dragon is a movie about Raya and Sisu, the last dragon of Kumandra, and their quest of finding all the pieces of a magical gem to restore the land to its previous, peaceful form. Raya and the Last Dragon is yet another Disney movie which is bright, colourful and filled with vibrant shots. The premise of the movie is straightforward and simple yet the sequences and characters pack a whole out of vigour and keeps the movie entertaining throughout the runtime. And while it still feels very formulaic at a lot of moments, the animation of the movie sort of makes up for it. It is based around this world of Kumandra where dragons and people lived harmoniously together.

I wanted to take the time to share an animated film that I was very fond of as a kid in the 90s. Chairman Mao considered it an extension of New China and thought it useful for creating propaganda between the 50s and 70s. Consequently the Cultural Revolution created a setback in the animation industry where artists were harassed and humiliated by the Red Guard, forcing many artists to quit becoming farmers or committing suicide. What is most striking about this movie is not the quality of the animation, but rather the art direction and style. The water and even the clouds have a stylish look and movement of a continuous roaring river rather than an ocean. Occasionally there are isometric views instead of continuous 2D landscape, which the characters move within. Nazhe already is confident in his ability as he is given a large ring, a ribbon, and a deer that he rides. The story for which I will not give away the rest will be shocking to younger viewers.
