I can't say it enough. A Vagrant, such as it is, is an archive website now. I didn't think it would be when I stepped away to work on other projects, but not to kill the light mood around here were very difficult years in a personal sense, and emerging on the other side, I feel like this is a project that has run its course.

I am so very grateful for all that this comic and my readers have given me, they have given me a career, joy, and more than I ever dreamed. I'm still working on a graphic novel, and picture books for children. I miss making humour comics, but coming back to them, I will have to figure out what that will look like. These comics go back to my early 20s, and I am a different person. In a sense that's exciting. I'll figure it out, and I hope I'll see you there. And maybe next time I'll choose a title that I won't have to repeat ten times to people, a bright prospect.

I'd like to dedicate this archive to my sister Becky Beaton, who we lost in , and who always believed in me. I love you, always. Kate Beaton.

Educational TV Shows for Kids

Comic strips are a standard feature in most newspapers. The Ottawa Citizen currently publishes twenty comics daily, ranging from one image stories to four- or five-panel strips. On Saturdays, the Citizen publishes the comics in colour—sticking with a tradition of a weekend colour comic supplement that goes back to the dawn of newspaper cartoons. Most of the comics in the Citizen are written by Americans whose work has been syndicated to other newspapers around the world. Many of the strips have been published for decades. In longest production is Blondie whose run began in Cartoonist Chic Young wrote and drew the strip until his death in , when his son Dean Young took over. Joe Shuster left Canada when he was 10 years old. So in a lot of ways his cousins were as close to him as his brothers and sisters. Many Canadian families of that era and earlier had some relatives living and working on the other side of the border. Canadians easily moved between the two countries by car and by rail.
