Pinky and the Brain were two mice characters from Animaniacs who later spun off into their own show also called Pinky and the Brain and later an unsuccessful second spin-off, Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain. The two characters are white laboratory mice intent on taking over the world, although this is more the ambition of The Brain rather than his associate Pinky. The running joke of the series was that their plans would almost succeed, but a slight flaw or mistake would suddenly cause the plans to backfire, and so the duo would return home to devise another plan. This plot was used for both Animaniacs and the spinoff series, but Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain relocated the characters to the home of Elmyra Duff, where they were forced to take over the world whilst dealing with the heavy-handed Elmyra and a stalker who was attempting to kidnap them.

Elvira is a girl of unknown age, redheaded with a white skirt, light blue shirt, a hair ribbon with an animal skull in the middle, black shoes and white socks. He attends Looniversity Acme and lives at Acme Acres. She also serves as a school nurse, to the point of doubling herself as in The Acme Bowl, an episode in which two Elviras were happily jumping and carrying a winch with Hamton, Peluso and Calamity injured.
Elmyra Duff's name is superficially based on the derivative of her mentor, Elmer Grumpy : "Elmyra" is the feminine form of "Elmer" and her last name, "Duff", as "Grumpy" which in English is Fudd pronounced backwards. Elmyra looks a lot like a younger version of the feminization of Grumpy Elmer from in the cartoon The Big Snooze , in which Elmer's peaceful dream is turned into a nightmare in which she is transformed into a shapely woman by Bugs. This was confirmed by her voice actress, Cree Summer.
Elvira is a girl who is obsessed with animals and cute things probably the reason she works as a nurse at Acme Looniversity. He is always hunting animals and his classmates at Acme Looniversity, unconsciously causing many annoyances or serious injuries to his pets due to his overzealous affection and total lack of knowledge, even the most basic of pet care.
As Elmyra's character was popular with viewers of the series, the creators decided to give her two full episodes later in the series. The previously unmentioned family appeared in these two episodes: "Please take Elmyra" and "The dead grandmother. As in these episodes none of the characters from the rest of the regular Tiny Toons cast appear, except for Furrball and Basset Byron, It may have been a test to see if Elmyra's character could get her own spin-off series around her family.
Elmyra's father is an inventor whose inventions are successful or used for another purpose. Elmyra's mother, Emily voiced by Tress MacNeille , is condescending and doesn't pay much attention to the behavior of her children, except for her newborn son, who shows incredible strength, a cause for concern. Duncan voiced by Whitby Hertford , Elmyra's brother, believes he is a superhero and saves his sister whenever he gets into trouble. Amanda, Elmyra's older sister, is the typical version of a teenage girl, always embarrassed by her family's behavior.
The family also has a maid, Queegee also voiced by Tress MacNeille , who displays superhuman strength at times. Elmyra's grandmother's voice is played by Fran Ryan. Also noteworthy in these episodes is the introduction of the character Mr. Skullhead, who was created by Elmyra's imagination from the small skull that he wears as an ornament for his hair. Skullhead starred in his own show, The Mr. Skullhead Show. The character later appeared regularly in the Animaniacs as the protagonist of the sketch called "Good idea, bad idea", in which Mr.
Skullhead and the various members of his family were always violently mutilated. Even though Animaniacs were not technically a follow-up to Tiny Toons , several of the characters in this series made cameos. The most notable is that of Elmyra in the short "Lookit the Fuzzy Heads". Scratchansniff's office and around town, until she is finally tricked by Mindy. In a way, this ending was especially fitting given that Mindy and Elmyra were similar characters: they are both girls who love their pets but are oblivious to the pain they inflict on them.
Elmyra also made a cameo appearance in the following episode, "Warner's 65th Birthday Is Special", with Yakko, Wakko, and Dot's happy birthday wishes. Elmyra later gave home to Pinky and Cerebro in a short-lived series in in which Pinky adjusts well to her new life but Cerebro has trouble living with Elmyra. Despite having essentially the same personality and living in Acres Acme, her character in Pinky, Elmyra, and Cerebro is different from her character in Tiny Toon Adventures in several ways: she goes to school with other children rather than her fellow Tiny Toons.
A running joke from Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain is that Elmyra continually washes Cerebro's mouth whenever he says some scientific jargon or just something that she can't understand she calls him "bad-waughty bathroom talk". Interestingly, Pinky and Brain had previously made a cameo as two of Elmyra's caged animals in the little special "Toons Break Spring Special". Also, when Cerebro makes a cameo appearance in the "Tiny Toons Night Ghoulery" special, Elmyra comments, "I'll play with you later," a possible omen.

Pinky and the Brain, those two genetically engineered lab mice, are homeless now that Acme Labs is no more. And the mice are in need of a place to hide as a secret organization wants to apprehend Brain. While hiding in a pet shop, the mice wound up getting bought by Elmyra Duff. Now the mice are forced to operate from Elmyra's house and endure her twisted ways of caring for animals. Despite all of these new complications, Pinky and the Brain still continue to try to take over the world. When Pinky dreams of living a normal family life Elmyra dresses up both he and Brain and places them in a doll house. Using an intergalactic radio Brain manages to flag down a passing alien, in hopes of trading for advanced weapons.

The show lasted for one 13 episode season due to bad ratings, with the later episodes airing as part of The Big Cartoonie Show. In total, the thirteen episodes of this spin-off plus the sixty-five episodes of the main series add up to 78 total episodes of Pinky and the Brain isolated from both Animaniacs incarnations. The show has been considered non-canon by staff members of the show including series creator Tom Ruegger.
