Review: ‘The Sea Beast’ Will Sail Into Your Hearts
Netflix is setting out on a swashbuckling adventure full of monsters, pirates, and family in The Sea Beast. As to be expected of an animated feature, The Sea Beast features a host of characters whose voices will sound familiar.
Here is everything you need to know about the film's A-list voice cast. The Sea Beast follows a young girl named Maisie Brumble who decides to stow away on the ship of Captain Crow to learn from world-famous sea monster hunter Jacob Holland.
Jacob and the crew of the Inevitable are tasked by the King and Queen with capturing the fabled Red Bluster, the most infamous of all sea creatures. As soon as they embark on their most dangerous adventure yet, they realize Maisie has snuck aboard. Unable to get rid of her at sea, Maisie ingratiates herself upon Jacob so that she too can become the world's best sea monster hunter but quickly becomes a thorn in his side, at which point the pair embark onto an unexpected adventure of their own.
Karl Urban takes on the role of Jacob and stars opposite Zaris-Angel Hator, who portrays Maisie in her voice-acting debut. The Sea Beast
The Sea Beast is now streaming on Netflix and is a great family watch. Part of the film's charm is the score from composer Mark Mancina. He previously worked with the film's director, Chris Williams , on the Disney film Moana. Milan Records has put out the soundtrack as of this weekend, available on all streaming services. In Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs we initially encounter the princess as a scullery maid — dominated by her wicked stepmother — sullenly lifting pales of water from the well. She escapes only to find herself confronted with further dirty and monotonous labour playing housekeeper and mother to the dwarves. A decade on, we find Cinderella in a house with her wicked stepmother and sisters being subjected to a life scrubbing floors wishing for a better life. And in Sleeping Beauty , a whole industry is destroyed simply to protect the princess, Aurora, from a fatal prick to the finger from a spinning wheel foreseen by the evil witch Maleficent. Three fairy godmothers care for the young princess but ultimately give away their secret, safe location — due to the sheer monotony of their life and work in the woods.
Whilst Animation was not the focus for Geeked Week until that Wednesday, Netflix opted to share the latest information regarding the highly-anticipated animated film, The Sea Beast. Premiers on Netflix July 8. However, the true adventure for these two has already started, for as soon as they left the safety of port, they embarked on a voyage across an open ocean filled with monsters.
