My apologies for the extremely long delay, almost two years, but I fell into danmei hell and still haven't dragged myself out. I managed to finally finish this chapter, and I have no idea when the next one will come out.
But thank you everyone who is still looking forward to this story, I truly appreciate it! It was a Sunday, so Yang Jinghua decided to stay in for a bit. Although he wanted to go rush to the hospital to see Duanmu Xi again, he knew that the other's mother was most likely there.
And considering that she had come with a group of scary adults last time to tell him to stay away from her son, he wasn't going to risk running into her and possibly setting her off yet again, which left quite a few hours of nothing for him to do.
He didn't want to leave his room, as his mom might start to worry about him getting sick again, just like she hovered over him after he came home from the hospital yesterday, but he also couldn't go back to sleep.
And everything in his room was currently geared towards the mentality of a child, not the adult he had become in his afterlife. So that left questioning the ones hitching a ride on his soul, as he still had so many questions left for them.
He turned to the white-haired ghost lounging across the open window. I was wondering, just what happened in the end? It all blurred together to me, and I'm not sure if I was hallucinating most of it. Caught by surprise, the former Yangmingsi couldn't do anything but answer the question. He had wanted to avoid this conversation for a few weeks, until Yang Jinghua had returned to a more stable state, but he should have known better than to try avoidance on a person legendary for his stubborn straightforwardness.

To be honest, your spiritual powers at the time of your death were actually quite on par with a member of the Duanmu family, and your rebirth into a body that no longer has to worry about the seal has forced them to increase even more. By the time he becomes Yangmingsi once more, your powers should be about equivalent to his. I'm pretty certain they have some sort of guard from the main branch of the Duanmu family staying nearby, and any odd fluctuations of spiritual energy are going to grab their attention. I'm not willing to risk it. The other two agreed. Yang Jinghua looked at the clock, and got up in a rush.
The conversation had distracted him from paying attention to the time, and it had slipped away. At this point, his mother would be long gone from the hospital, and now would be the best time to visit before she came back.
The three left the house, Yang Jinghua informing his parents as he went, and headed straight to the hospital. He didn't bother to ask for the room number this time, knowing that Duanmu Xi should still be in the same room.
Heading straight upstairs, they went to the room they had last seen him in, only to find it empty. Yang Jinghua went to the closest nurse, asking politely what had happened to the patient in that room, though he already had a suspicion towards the answer. I'm sure you can see him at his house tomorrow to play.
Yang Jinghua smiled politely at the lady as he thanked her before exiting the hospital. He shot a glance at his attached spirits before murmuring quietly, "Well it looks like we can start making the sword now. Yang Jinghua bit back a groan of disgust as he trudged back towards his house. He had forgotten, but he was going to have to spend the next six years relearning everything he had once learned.
Duanmu Luoyue smirked slightly at the disgruntled child. You can advance and test yourself as much as you'd like as long as you stay nearby. There were changes between the original series and the reboot but the sentimental feelings remained the same and these characters made me fall in love with them all over again and want to give them all a hug. While there were some aspects in the second season that felt a little weaker, such as the introduction of the student council that Yuki would work with, overall everything was needed because Fruits Basket The Final Season brings all the threads together, stirs the viewers emotions, and leaves us with a story that you really do have to experience. As always, the strength of Fruits Basket The Final Season remains the characters and their emotional journeys.
