Anastasia is the story of the last and lost princess of Russia. It is an enchanting fairy tale, the most loved genre by children. The proud grandmother offered a beautiful necklace to Anastasia, who was 8 years then. Unfortunately, Rasputin, who was punished for crime had a deal with devil and ruined the celebration.

The emperor was killed and the revolution began. While the devil and Rasputin were about to attack grandma and Anastasia, they were saved by a boy called Dmitri. He took them through a secret path. While Anastasia and Marie were about to board a train to escape, Anastasia was badly hurt on her head, while her grandmother climbed the train.

They were separated. Marie went to Paris and could not control her grief over losing her only grandchild Anastasia. After almost 10 years, she made an announcement to offer 10 million rubles as prize for one who could bring Anastasia to her. Dmitri, who saved the pair and his friend decided to get the prize by finding Anastasia.

However, Marie found that none of them was Anastasia. Dmitri and his friend continued their search. Meanwhile, Anastasia grew up into a beautiful girl. Losing all the memories of her past, she was raised in an orphanage. Dmitri found Anastasia and even realized that she was the real one by seeing her necklace. While she was talking to Dmitri, she could recollect some scanty memories. The boys took Anastasia to Maria. Unfortunately, Marie, who was fed up with fake identities refused to see the real Anastasia.

When Dmitri was arguing with Marie and her assistant, she recollected all her forgotten memories. She talked to Dmitri and told him that she remembered everything. They met Marie and the grandma was happy to see Anastasia. The grandmother as promised offered the reward of 10 million rubles, but Dmitri refused to accept and left the place. Dmitri had fallen in love with Anastasia, but he left because he could not marry her.

Anastasia also loved Dmitri and her grandmother Marie let her choose her life. While Anastasia went in search of Dmitri, she was trapped by evil Rasputin who killed her father.

Like many millennials, I have fond memories of the movie Anastasia. It was, in my opinion, the best animated film Disney never made, and it was one of the most magical because it was able to turn a tragic story into something magical and triumphant. If you have never heard of the real Anastasia or the story of her death, you may want to buckle up. The murder of the Romanov family is connected to one of the most major political uprisings in the 20th century, the Russian Revolution comprised of the February and October Revolutions , and it is also one of the most haunting politically motivated executions.

The light at the end of this tunnel came when Bluth was hired by 20th Century Fox to kickstart their own animation studio, attempting to steal some more of Disney's thunder. Traditional animation was big business in the mid-'90s: over a five-year span, Disney had released four movies which all set new box-office records for the artform, and was starting to look like a juggernaut. Who better to combat Disney than one of Disney's lost sons, went the reasoning, and thus it was that Bluth was given resources the likes of which he hadn't had since breaking off with executive producer Steven Spielberg a decade earlier.

The film is a loose adaptation of the legend of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia, which claims that she, in fact, escaped the execution of her family. Its basic plot centers around an eighteen-year-old amnesiac orphan named Anya who, in hopes of finding some trace of her family, sides with con men who wish to take advantage of her likeness to the Grand Duchess; thus the film shares its plot with Fox's prior film from , which, in turn, was based on the play of the same name by Marcelle Maurette. The film was met with criticism by some historians for its fantastical retelling of the life of the Grand Duchess. Though it enjoyed a positive reception from many critics, the historical inaccuracies were panned. In this fantasy movie for teenagers, a year-old Duchess Anastasia escapes Vladimir Lenin, the leader of the Bolshevik Revolution, via a magical portal that transports her to the U. Although the controversial trailer was published on YouTube in March , the movie only caught the eye of internet users recently. Outrage spread fast among Russian users. Many of them said it was insensitive to make a fantasy movie for teenagers based on a tragedy of a real personality, who was murdered with her entire family when she was only 17 years old. This is clearly inappropriate. Many were offended by one particular scene shown in the trailer. The scene also shows supporting Americans who use their hands to eat spaghetti as well, perhaps to encourage Anastasia.
