An American Tail '86 , the story of an immigrant mouse family and their adventurous son, Fievel, was key to the resurgence of feature-film animation. Produced by Steven Spielberg, this sequel is a less sentimental, more high- spirited look at the Mousekewitz family. Instead of the tears and throat- choking emotion that tugged at kids' hearts in the first film, Fievel Goes West relies more on comedy and zany antics. To this effect, Dom Deluise nabs the spotlight with his vocal talents as the goofy, often cowardly fat cat, Tiger. Deluise is a scream, as Tiger evades packs of snapping dogs and is whipped into shape as a tough lawman by legendary pooch sheriff, Wylie Burp, played by screen veteran James Stewart.
