EDIT: Added some more info, commenting on music, the fireworks, and Butler's tent looking like a rainbow pineapple. Hello, my friends, here is my next instalment of Duckyworth's Thoughts. Gotta catch 'em all! Now, I can imagine what a lot of you are thinking — 'What? Once again, if you feel there are some important things I haven't commented on, or something you feel I can expand on, feel free to comment with suggestions, and I'll update my review with it.

Second, we get a pretty awesome showcase of legendaries that have had a role in the films so far — we get Mewtwo wearing an awesome cape, by the way — maybe he's a little MORE like Dracula than I previously thought , Lugia, Entei, Celebi, and Latios and Latias.

While witnessing the show, Max hears a voice calling him from inside a crystal in the performance. And while doing so, Max learns something important about how permanent friendship can be. The attractions like the rollercoaster ride, the circus, and the stands look like a few carnival places I've been to in England and on holiday. But if I could ask something here, I would ask — why does Butler's tent look like a rainbow pineapple? Jirachi is The first moment I saw him, wrapped up in a bundle by its Especially the way he just floated down Maybe it's his design — he reminds me of a mixture between Cherrim and Staryu - which may sound odd, I may admit.

I especially how his eyes open and just look so cute — it reminds me of the scene in Robots when Fender says 'Give me big anime eyes! I don't know, for some reason, a lot of characters voices HAVE reminded me of her recently. Something I find a little bit A bit odd that he's a bit of a Thank you, Jirachi It's as cute as when Sparky in Frankenweenie got tired and Victor needed to top up his electricity.

Wow, making a lot of references today, aren't I? Speaking of sleep, it is pretty cute when Butler puts the sleeping Jirachi on his evil machine. Bit of a sinister wake-up call, isn't it?! I also can't help but laugh when Jirachi gets dizzy when he and Max ride one of the spinning rides. But then, we get a moment that is actually pretty hard to watch, when Butler KIDNAPS Jirachi when the gang is sleeping, and we learn of another power Jirachi has — he has a 'True Eye', an eye on his stomach that has the ability to absorb power from the Millennium Comet Poor Jirachi's cries are one of those things that hurts you so much — I mean that as in it's almost upsetting to listen to - almost as hard to listen to as when Simba begs Mufasa to wake up after Scar kills him in The Lion King, Atreyu crying for Artax in the Swamps of Sadness in The Neverending Story, or I also find it pretty sad that they keep saying that Jirachi's time here is limited During the scenes where the van is heading to Forina, we get more cute things from Jirachi — including Jirachi helping to push the van out of the mud, while Jirachi's legs kick in a cute way, and when Max hears only two nights are left, we get a REALLY cute shot of Jirachi when Max and Jirachi sit by the pond, and we just see Jirachi looking at Ash.

Jirachi also shows some awesome moments, when he teleports himself, Ash, Flygon, Max and Pikachu away from Virus Groudon's evil tentacle things And he does show a sweet moment when he teleports Salamence beneath Butler to save him, and when says 'He can't be all bad He loves Diane.

Cute, sweet, powerful and epic — see why he's my fave legendary? It is also awesome when he says 'Let's do it! I would have thought they would have put more wishes into this film But still, it turns out that Jirachi himself has made quite a few wishes in this film — including having a friend — and Max made them all come true. The villain in this film is the 'Great Butler', or just Butler, a magician who performs at the Millennium Festival.

As I said before, one reason why I like this film so much is because the villain DOES have a story arc of his own — he isn't just a two-dimensional villain who never learns his lesson, the fact he learns his lesson and reforms makes him a more believable three-dimensional character — like Amos Slade in The Fox and the Hound learning his lesson and reforming at the end of his film when he realises just how close the friendship between Todd and Copper is.

It turns out that he was originally a scientist from Team Magma, who created a machine that he created to try to resurrect a Groudon again A Groudon?!

I thought there was only ONE in existence I'll let it slide. Now, wanting revenge, he plans to use Jirachi as a power source to make his own wish come true! His skills as a magician are actually pretty impressive, I may say I think they may rival Harry Potter's magical abilities at times — he summons huge bouncing spheres that burst to reveal machines that put up his tent, he is able to turn his wand into a cloth, and a Pokeball he uses appears on his hand out of nowhere.

But one thing I question is that Butler tells his Mighteyena to place a tracking device on the van the heroes drive to Forina — but although the tracking device breaks off the van, Butler SOMEHOW manages to find them anyway So, that made the tracking device He can see wherever Jirachi goes anyway?

Butler does get an awesome line just before he uses Jirachi to try and create a Groudon, when he says ' Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it's time for the moment you've all been waiting for! When he shouts 'Diane', it is pretty well lip-synched. Butler's team is also pretty cool — Kirlia, Dusclops, Mighteyena and Anyway, Salamence also helps out Ash and friends in an awesome way, so like his trainer, he does at least reform.

Diane, voiced by Megan Hollinghead, is Butler's girlfriend, and a fellow circus performer. It is pretty cool when he breaks out of the cage Butler puts him in, and when he helps destroy Butler's machines. But then, it turns out that it is NOT really Groudon Whenever your kids wet themselves in the middle of the night and they don't know why, YOU'LL know the reason!

Okay, maybe it's not THAT scary — I mean it's nowhere near as bad as Bilbo's business face or Boris' pupil-less face but it is still pretty freaky It starts sucking energy from the ground, killing all the plants One thing I don't understand is why he sounds like an elephant And, when Groudon starts melting when Butler reverses the polarity in his machine that birthed Virus Groudon At least Jirachi regains his strength and destroys this monstrosity with Doom Desire, saving Forina and everyone in it.

Flamethrower, I think? Ash does have slightly more mature moments in this film — and it is nice when he says that he misses Misty when talking about how best friends will always be with each other — even when they're far apart, as a part of them stays with you in your heart. I know, some of you may find that a bit sappy, but I find it cute.

Ash, your genius is showing It is pretty cute seeing Pikachu eat popcorn at the magic show and fall asleep when May sings her lullaby, and it is cool seeing him kick Team Rocket's butt with his electric attacks. Brock also gets some funny moments when he lusts over Diane, and when he rides the dodgems it is funny seeing him crash into the wall Saying THAT is a bit redundant THAT honour goes to May and Max are sister and brother. While some people may find them annoying — and to be honest, in two of the films they're in, I can honestly agree with that , but in two of their films, they are pretty passable.

In this film, May doesn't really do much — but still, I do feel that Max and May's relationship as brother and sister, like Latios and Latias, are pretty legitimate.

One thing I DIDN'T really like about the films in the original series, while still minor, but still a flaw, was that Misty and Brock didn't really get a chance to show what they could do, ASH was always the focus of them. He's the main character of the series, sure, but I thought it was weird that Misty or Brock never got the focus in these films. Well, in Jirachi Wishmaker — that's no longer the case.

Team Rocket have a pretty funny introduction in this film — they dress up like clowns fitting for them — I wonder if Pennywise from IT would be embarrassed to have them in the same profession as him and throw flyers for Butler's magic show, while Meowth also says their job involves 'cleaning up manure Moving on.

We also get them doing something that's REALLY in character with the show — having some kind of strange plan to steal Pikachu, and Butler's Kirlia and Mighteyena — and of course, being thwarted. They also get another funny line when they see the light from Jirachi to the comet, and the conversation goes like this — Meowth: You see that light?

Jesse: You think I'm blind? James: That would explain the hair They even get sucked up by Groudon But then, when they are teleported back to the top of a rock, we get a funny farewell from them Ah, I know why Even though it is pretty tricky to notice MANY big improvements in the animation, I still believe that the animation is steadily getting better. The fireworks are also really impressive in this film. While I think in the Japanese version it was intended for May to WHISTLE the lullaby going doo doo doo doo doo wouldn't help ME get to sleep but still, it is at least a nice tune — a nice enough tune to be played as a beautiful instrumental version in the credits, it seems.

I loved it the first time I saw it, and I still love it now. I normally have a dislike for Max, but his friendship with Jirachi was just so darn cute! Also, that comet was pretty cool. I haven't seen it, but I heard it was very good. Then we thought that we should watch it on the TV upstairs, since it wasn't on when the problem occurred.

So, who knows? No more horrible flaws will EVER come out of the films! Join me next time In An Adventure With Scientists! Deviation Actions. Add to Favourites. By Duckyworth. Published: Jun 10,

Gekijouban Poketto monsutâ Adobansu jenerêshon: Nanayo no negaiboshi Jirâchi

We didn't check the prerelease material, and we didn't watch it when it did come out. In fact, we didn't bother watching it for 15 years. And by when we did, we didn't know anything about it beyond the fact that Jirachi would be in it, and that Absol would be in it since Rosy has a plush of Absol that was made as merchandise for this movie. We weren't alone in our disregard for the movie. The movie also wasn't aired in Italy until , and it was on a pay channel.

JIRACHI WISH MAKER, tbh this one is on the cusp of crap and OK be a Pokemon master (Give it up already) BROCK, the pervert, MAY who tbh.

Untitled — (fixed version) Here's part 3 for Serena Vs Norman...

Plot: Every years, the Millennium Comet is visible from earth for seven days. Ash, May, Brock and Max take a break from their Pokemon journey to visit a festival meant to celebrate the Millennium Comet. They become fast friends, but it soon becomes apparent that Butler had malicious motives for giving Jirachi to Max. He wants to use Jirachi and the comet to power a machine that will clone a Groudon as revenge against Team Magma. The poster is really good yet again. Looks fantastic otherwise. They even show Ho-Oh first because technically that was the first ever Legendary to appear in the show. Each of their shots are extremely cool, too.

It was accompanied by the short Gotta Dance. The film was released in theaters in Japan on July 19, , by Toho. The English-language adaptation was distributed by Miramax Films and released direct-to-video on June 1, The tune of this song is also used as the lullaby May and Max's mother used to sing to them when they were children. This is the first movie in which the original Japanese song is also clearly used in the English version, and the first time in which the names of the guest characters were the same in both the English and Japanese versions. The plot of the short centers on Team Rocket and their newest base.

Meowth : Oh, they're stuck in a box with impending doom and no way out.

As for the movie, there plot centers around the Millennium Comet, which Ash and Co. Of course, this is bad, especially because the true protagonist of this film, Max, has bonded with Jirachi. Oh hey! Oh, Ash having an actually emotional moment with Max concerning friendship…and bringing up Misty! Ash in general being a big bro to Max. The ET-like plot could have been bolstered with a few more emotional scenes.

Although I use the English name of the movie and its characters to make the review more accessible to English-speaking fans, I was actually watching a fansub of the Japanese version of the movie. There may be some differences if you have only seen the dub. The movie begins with Ash and company attending the Millennium Comet festival, a sort of fair held in the middle of nowhere to celebrate a comet that appears for seven days once every thousand years. At the festival, they attend a magic show featuring magician The Great Butler, which culminates in a scene where Butler's assistant Diane appears from nowhere out of a sea of flames, holding up a huge, roughly egg-shaped crystal.
