Nichijou noodles

Makarov: I've been seeing a lot of goats around the guild hall and have to ask you to stop bringing your goats. Bickslow, on a goat: Hey, what have you got against goats? Why should I have to walk here on my own feet? Reze, aside after Denji throws up a flower: Well, I think it's a good thing. There's no reason to pretend to be cool.

Ep 2: David Chan (Nichijou Ramen): Engineer by day, Ramen chef by night

Poor Annaka. All she wanted was some noodles on a nice, summer day at the neighborhood park. Is that so much to ask for? Would have been even better if that was Tsukasa getting trolled.

Balsamic vinegar would be used instead of cold water, and the noodles would be a chocolate cornet. The entire nagashi somen skit was the best part of the episode. Speaking of trolls, Yuuko gets it pretty bad this week with her attempts to covertly enter her classroom late.

At this point, it should already be known that Mai is the only one behind the antics despite not seeing her at all during this segment. But stained glass windows? In a Japanese classroom? So much light comes in from the windows anyway that those types of windows would be utilized best. Mai is still the queen of trolls in this series. Even from the beginning of the episode, she totally messes with Yuuko and Mio during a session of Red Light, Green Light.

Even better if, after taking her shoes off and sitting down in front of the two, she took out a pot of tea, poured three cups for each of them, and started drinking all three.

I almost expected her to have darker brown hair and flames in her eyes. I used to do it all the time, even to the point where I would start for a good fifteen minutes, then get distracted by something else and stall again for longer. Hurray, a new version of the ED song! Now I have to go and buy this at Kinokuniya somewhere. Even new characters get a chance to make some waves with their personalities.

Nichijou – Episode 10

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is really pushing the envelope in resolutely refusing to be anything but what it is… I continue to think that this is probably one of those all or nothing series, where the viewer is either going to buy into the experience of find the whole thing incredibly stupid — how you feel about the omake which I thought was an apotheosis of comic genius is probably a good test. The clever conceit this week was a mockery of all the summer tropes so beloved in anime, and DanKou puts a twist on it by pretty much making fun of all of them in a kind of mini-omnibus format. Hidenori got off a lot of the best one-liners this week, and they definitely have the right seiyuu for the role because Tomokazu-san sells the jokes big-time. Nothing too hilarious here, but some sly commentary on what people find annoying about teenage boys and how they blame everything on their mothers.
