And there are a couple of best of albums that cover his career very well. Having said that the real fan of Cos should try to gradually collect his entire catalogue especially given the prices for which they can be obtained.
Cosby uses a range of well worn characters here to weave ridiculous and very amusing vignettes that are perfect for lazy day listening. Or for when your wife has you painting the house or something similar As to my favourite sketches here?
But perhaps my absolute fave here is Fat Albert Plays Dead, basically a tale of trying to get one up on your father which is certainly not an easy thing to do in the world of corporal punishment as detailed by Cosby in so many of his sketches where fathers make an appearance.
A light and breezy listen. I love this album - having heard the classic 'Fat Alberts Car' many years ago, I still fall apart laughing everytime I hear it - Cessna engined and all. I love the fact that Dr William Cosby - known and loved by his fans as 'Bill' Cosby seems to effortlessly regale tales of his childhood without the use of one cuss-word. He draws as much mirth and amusement for himself as he does for his listeners, talking with that mile wide smile in his voice Overall, though, i've been a fan of Bill Cosby of years They all revolve his youth in Philadelphia and the boys he grew up with.
All men should have hilarious stories of their antics as youth to draw upon for hilarious memories. Cosby's genius is in his ability to make thos stories funny to others. He does a great job. Bill Cosby is unusual in this day and age for his ability to generate tremendous laughs without resorting to profanity. He makes the extra effort to do so and still be funny. The effort pays off.
Get this recording but be prepared to laugh uproarisouly at the foibles of youth. Bought for my daughter and my husband The recording is fine, but the laughter left in the tracks is so loud. You have to keep your hand on the volume button all the time in order to hear and understand him and turn it down during laughter. Seems like with technology today, something could be done to make it more enjoyable to listen to. I've listened to this 3 times with my wife since receiving it and we've ended up laughing so hard we cried each time.
And you don't even have to worry if the kids can hear because it's appropriate for ALL ages, I remember listening to this with my parents as a kid myself.
I had this Bill Cosby album on an LP when my sons were young. They're now grown and and one has two sons.

The story hews close to what the cartoon. Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids was always all about—a goofy gaggle of African-American kids making the best of growing up in a rough neighborhood in Philadelphia. Hey hey hey! She comes home to watch Fat Albert on TV Land and a stray teardrop hits the remote control creating a magical portal through which the animated Fat Albert and gang decide to jump. Scaring the heck out of the bewildered Doris the guys stumble out of the television set and take to their realistic surroundings and mission quite quickly. In short order they set about trying to find Doris some new friends much to her embarrassed chagrin and along the way they try to make sense of modern day life with its perplexing cell phones pull-top cans and rap music. Yet the more time they spend in the real world the more they fade away their clothes becomes more washed out and eventually they even seem transparent.

Kenan Thompson stars as the title character. Fat Albert transforms the cartoon characters into three-dimensional humans, who have to come to grips with the differences that exist between their world and the real world. The film acts as a continuation of the series; Fat Albert and the gang leave their s cartoon world, and enter the s real world to help a teenage girl, Doris Robertson Kyla Pratt , deal with the challenges of being unpopular. Doris Robertson, a depressed teenager, is grieving the death of her grandfather and resisting her foster sister Lauri's efforts to engage socially. Upon learning that her parents will be away for a two day business trip to the Poconos, Doris' tear hits her television remote, as Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids is on. The tear opens up a portal to the cartoon world, Fat Albert jumps out of the television upon seeing Doris except real-life , knowing she has a problem. Doris insists she is fine, but the gang knows otherwise. When the show ends, they have to wait until tomorrow's show to come back. They follow Doris to school and are amazed by the new technology.
