List of One Piece Anime Episodes

Now that One Piece has finally reached its 1,th episode, let's take a look back and admire how far the anime has come. Ever since , the shonen behemoth has been serving up great episodes.

Which ones are the very best is a matter of personal preference, but there are some that really stand out above the rest. From epic fights to tragic moments , these 20 episodes are among the very best the series has to offer. If you don't see a personal favorite on here, that doesn't mean it's not incredible or deserving of recognition. Let's celebrate the greatness of One Piece by looking back at a handful of its greatest moments.

Even though the consquences that follow are major, watching Luffy knock out a World Noble is one of the most satisfying moments of the series. After watching the human auction and the terrible way that Charlos treats the Fish-Men, that moment was a well-deserved and dramatic retaliation. If you want to be emotionally gutted, watch this episode. After taking a hit from Akainu's magma fist, Ace passes away, but not before looking back on his past and saying a few touching last words.

Luffy's devastated reaction at the end really brings home the painful intensity of the episode, and the seriousness of the loss. The Going Merry has been an integral part of the Straw Hat crew since the start of the series. When she finally stops functioning, they give her a Viking funeral and say their emotional goodbyes. Though she's a ship, the Going Merry is able to communicate her love for the rest of the crew.

It's a powerful episode that will get you right in the feels. There are a lot of episodes that demonstrate friendship and loyalty, but few do it better than this one. After Robin tells her life story, she explains that while she likes the Straw Hats, she believes that they will ultimately betray her.

They prove otherwise by declaring war on the World Government for her sake. Robin is finally able to fully trust other people, and express a sincere desire to survive. It's rare to see the Straw Hats endure a total defeat, so when it does happen, it's noteworthy. In this episode, Kuma is able to send them blasting off to different locations, separating the formerly inseparable crew.

It's a major turning point for the series that pushes the characters out of their comfort zones. Luffy is immobile and unconcious from pain and fatigue. At first, Zoro fights instead of him, but he gets another opportunity to address the situation. Kuma says that he can use his Devil Fruit to extract Luffy's pain, but only if Zoro can take it on himself. Zoro agrees without hesitation despite knowing that the intensity of it could end his life. Zoro's bravery and dedication to his friend really shine through in this episode.

This episode features yet another hard-hitting end to a beloved character's life. Whitebeard means to avenge Ace and Thatch's demises, but he's unable to defeat the Blackbeard Pirates. Still, he puts on a heck of a fight, taking more injuries than most anyone could endure. It's tough to watch two longtime friends fight. It's even tougher when one friend is in danger of having their life completely ruined if the other friend can't stop them. Luffy is trying desperately to stop Sanji from giving in to the demands of his cruel family.

When he can't get through to him through words or fighting, he says that without Sanji there's no way he can become the Pirate King, so he's going to wait where he is without eating until Sanji returns. Sanji absolutely should not be marrying Pudding, but it's still painful to see them part. This episode drives that pain home by having Pudding give him one final kiss goodbye, and then erase his memories of their time together and letting him go. She's left alone with all of those memories.

It's a beautiful, gut-twisting episode that handles its material with expertise. This is the climax of the Alabasta arc, and it's one of the reasons that the arc is considered one of the best in early One Piece. Here, Luffy finally defeats Crocodile using an unexpectedly ingenious strategy.

It's an epic moment set to great music. Not only does he defeat Crocodile, but Vivi also finally gets through to the people of Alabasta. It's a touching end to a tense story. Just like every other episode in the Wano arc, this one shines in the art and animation department. It also features a showdown between Whitebeard and Gol D. Roger, two of the most notorious pirates in history.

Luffy's fight with Katakuri has a lot of exciting moments, but the one in this episode stands out. He achieves a new stage - Gear Fourth: Snakeman. This stage allows him to not only increase his speed, but also change directions at the last second. It's awesome to see him reach new heights of strength and show them off in fights. After a long and seemingly impossible fight against Doflamingo, Luffy is finally able to create a path to victory by unlocking a new move - the King Kong Punch.

Watching him destroy his opponent after an intense struggle is always satisfying, and this episode is no expection. Though he'll change later in the series, Bellamy first appears as an arrogant jerk who spends every moment he's on screen mocking other people.

In order to get Cricket's statue back, Luffy engages him in a fight. Seeing him leave a dent in Bellamy's face is an unforgettable moment, as is his airy declaration afterwards about going to the sky. It's rare for Shanks to actually fight, so any time the Emperor gets to show off his skills, it's worth paying attention. In this episode, Shanks and Whitebeard clash swords over whether or not Ace should take on the Blackbeard Pirates.

Shanks thinks it's too dangerous, but Whitebeard thinks it's necessary, and the issue is just too important to reconcile with words. In this episode, the Straw Hats enter Onigashima, beat the guards at the Torii Gate, and resolve to defeat Kaido, Orochi, and Big Mom before celebrating Jinbe's integration into the group. It's a great introduction to the upcoming storyline, as well as to the members of the Tobiroppo. Not only does this episode feature an exciting fight between Luffy and the seemingly unbeatable Arlong, but it also cements Luffy's dedication to his new friend Nami.

The part where he knocks Arlong out is just as impactful as the part where he destroys the room full of maps that Nami was forced to make as a symbol of the freedom he intends to win for her.

This episode is from the beginning of the series, so the art is rougher than it will be later on - but it's still phenomenal. Episode is the animated version of the th chapter of the manga. To commemorate that milestone, the episode featured exceptionally beautiful art and animation of the sort you'd expect from a film.

Directed by Megumi Ishitani, this episode did a great job of encapsulating what makes One Piece special. Though much of it was an overview of previous events, it was rendered so artistically that it doesn't feel like a filler so much as a celebration.

The episode also featured a deeper look at Yamato's relationship with Ace, plus a moving declaration from the future king of the pirates himself. If you're a long-time One Piece fan, you're probably going to cry after watching this.

This episode dips back into the past by showing Garp and Roger teaming up to defeat the Rocks Pirates. Not only does it elaborate on an important part of the series' history, but it's also exciting and fun while doing so.

As of November , this is the highest rated episode on IMDb. This means that for a lot of people, it's the best of the best. The episode revolves around various people coming together to take on Kaido in order to free Wano from his grasp, and it features amazing animation and art that is characteristic of the Wano arc.

Most of the time, filler episodes wouldn't qualify for a "best of" list, but One Piece is actually known for having pretty good filler - especially the G-8 arc, which most people think is on par with canon.
