Casper the friendly ghost 8 bit version

It's almost Halloween can it hurry up, please? And while some people might prefer to be thoroughly freaked out by a gory horror film, sometimes we just want to kick back and watch a film about a harmless friendly ghost. It still counts as a scary movie though, right? Of course, there's only one friendly ghost in question: Casper, that is.

Reviewer: HollywoodBob - favorite favorite favorite - November 3, Subject: Casper and Ferdie It was interesting to see this crude early version of Casper before he developed the bulbous head he was depicted as having in later years. The death of Ferdie was jarring to me, unfortunately reminding me of the animals that I killed hunting for "sport" in my teenage years before I gave up the "sport" of killing small animals for fun.

This may be a little too grim for very young children. I never knew death could be so enjoyable. Reviewer: human - favorite favorite favorite - August 17, Subject: Kind of twisted plotline Am I the only one that's a bit bothered by this plot line?

Next thing you know, ol' Casper's gonna go an' have hisself a lil' ol' killin' spree so he kin have hisself lotsa new friends. I don't know why I just wrote that in dialect, but somehow it seemed to fit. Reviewer: mongointown - favorite favorite favorite favorite - July 12, Subject: boo comment While this cartoon is sad and perhaps mushy too some people, I find it highlights the human condition. Death is a fact of life. The positive note to me is that love and friendship is eternal and cannot be diminished in death.

Hopfully we all meet our loved ones in the afterlife if there is one and live on. Reviewer: barticle - favorite favorite favorite favorite - July 1, Subject: Casper This is really really weird.

How could Casper and Ferdie "live happily ever after" if they're both dead??? I'd revise this submission else continue to be plagued with bad uploading karma!

Reviewer: D. Mavrov - favorite favorite favorite favorite - July 12, Subject: Again, cut titles I wish someone would finally get these films' old prints and restore the titles. At least Warner Bros. Reviewer: Evertil - favorite favorite favorite favorite - September 10, Subject: Caspar cartoon title The real play on words for the title goes back to the time of Prohibition surely you remember In this case, "there's good booze tonight" meant there was a party going on and they had something better than that moonshine stuff that could make a bat go blind.

Short answer: booze. Reviewer: dzondzon - favorite favorite favorite favorite - July 20, Subject: Caspar Title Meaning The title is a play on words. Gabriel Heatter was a famous newscaster in the 's that would open his broadcast with the introduction, "There's Good News Tonight. To answer the last reviewer I can only guess that the title is based on the song "There's Good Rockin' Tonight".

It was first recorded and written by Roy Brown, but was a huge hit for Wynonie Harris in Reviewer: Spuzz - favorite favorite favorite favorite - April 16, Subject: British Government took note of this one.. Great debut for Casper the friendly ghost here, as there is some backstory here, and then a bit of a plot about how Casper tries to make new friends, and finally does, with a fox named Gertie.

They have plenty of fun together until uh-oh, A fox hunt comes their way, leading to, well, a rather macabre conclusion if I may say so. Finally, what the heck does the title mean? Reviewer: RonaldB - favorite favorite favorite favorite - March 5, Subject: Just saw it again on a dollar DVD Like a recent poster, I remember seeing this cartoon at my aunt's house when I was about 8.

Her stations carried a wider variety of cartoons than the ones in my hometown. That was one of the things I looked forward to when I went to her house. I remember being very moved emotionally by the story. The other guy was right also in that this was much darker tone than most Casper cartoons I remember. Could this one have been the "pilot" of the whole series? Recently I purchased a DVD at the dollar store that had two s horror movies and this cartoon.

It was only when Ferdie appeared that I realized this was the one! Seems that later on in my mind I associated this story with the Resurrection of Christ.

Hey, I was always a big thinker even when I was little! Reviewer: manolie - favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite - December 18, Subject: wonderful so! Casper cartoons are usually sickly sweet, but this one is unexpectedly dark and tragic. Casper makes friends with a little fox and they have lots of fun times together until the fox hunters show up.

Casper manages to scare them away, but not in time to save the fox, who dies of a gunshot wound. I suppose this is supposed to be a happy ending, but it makes death look way too attractive. Even kids who are reasonably happy would probably find this toon upsetting enough to make them cry. Have fun, kids! Reviewer: jokerman70 - favorite favorite favorite - August 8, Subject: Bart's Casper theory This was kinda creepy. Reminded me of the Simpsons episode where Bart theorized about Casper's origins- Bart:What do you care about good comics?

All you ever read is "Casper the whmpy ghost" Lisa:I think its sad that you equate friendliness with whimpieness, and i hope it will keep you from ever achieving popularity Bart:Well you know what i think?

I think casper is the ghost of richie rich. Lisa: compares a Richie rich comic and casper comic Hey they do look alike! Bart: Wonder how he died? Lisa:Maybe he relized how hollow the pursuit of money is and took his own life. This one is way too much.

Casper goes out and tries to make friends but everybody runs when they see him. Suddenly he meets this cute little fox cub he names Ferdie, They both play together but then a hunter comes and shoots him! That was very unexpected! However this cartoon does have a happy ending, But I still feel for the poor fox. All the rest of the Casper cartoons, His animal friends don't get killed at all.

This one is the saddest one ever made, Even back in the s. Reviewer: Gman - favorite - July 15, Subject: Casper, the dead l'il kid. As far as Casper cartoons go, this is better but that's not saying much. How morbid. Get killed and have fun with Casper for eternity! Caspers are the suckiest cartoons of the golden age of animation. I need good booze after watching Casper. Reviewer: gka - favorite favorite favorite favorite - April 24, Subject: one of my earliest and tearful caspers I remember this from the time I was around 4.

I was especially saddened by what happened to Ferdie the Fox, Casper's friend. Over the years I have occasionally recalled this cartoon, but have never seen it. Until now. What a nice little thrill it was to see it once again. Hokey, sentimental, yes, but still much better than the tripe they show these days.

Assuming you're able to get over it, Casper: Spirit Dimensions is a title worth giving a look whether you're a big fan of the Friendly Ghost or are just looking for a unique action-adventure game. The effort puts you in the role of none other than Casper as he must try and rid the four Spirit Dimensions of Kibosh who has taken them each over with the idea of ruling the universe. So if you picked that one up, there's nothing to see here. If you haven't, and you're looking for a decent action-adventure clearly geared toward a younger audience, you might want to keep reading. Gameplay What makes Casper a unique action-adventure is that while moving through these four worlds, which includes The Medieval World, The Spirit Amusement Park, Kibosh's Factory, and the Spirit World, he has complete freedom of movement in all directions. It takes a little while to get used to, but once you get the hang of controlling Casper's 3D movement with the left and right analog sticks, you'll find that it's easy to move him around in these relatively expansive 3D environments. You'll still encounter problems targeting enemies with your Spirit Blasts, which is your main method of attack, and turning around quickly isn't as fast as it should be.

The cartoon character, Casper the Friendly Ghost who appears in numerous cartoon shorts as well as Harvey Comics publication, has appeared in five films since his inception, most of which were either released in television or straight-to-video while only one was released theatrically. Many for the most part are unrelated to each other. Like in the comics and animated shorts, the films feature Casper, a ghost of a deceased child, who refused to frighten others and would like nothing more than to be friendly around the world; however, due to the nature of what he appears to be, it would often get him shunned and petrified by whoever he encounters, but along the way, he would find and befriend a certain someone he could identify himself with, and would often help that someone in need. Created by Seymour Reit and Joe Oriolo , the character made his debut in three theatrical animated shorts in the mid to late s from Noveltoons , and were released by Paramount Pictures and produced by Paramount Pictures' Famous Studios , then started a series of theatrical shorts from to , right before Harvey Comics ended up buying the rights to the character.
