Tokyo Ghoul, Vol. In this book, the protagonist needed to tackle a new enemy- 'The Gourmet' ghoul.

This series is becoming more exciting as some new concepts and characters are being revealed. Even if it's a life in shackles, if you have somebody who accepts you for what you really are, how reassuring would that be? Another great volume. This series is only getting better and better. Can't wait to get to the point where anime ended, so that's why I'm trying to read these as fast as I can.

On to the next one! Better than the previous volume, but still nothing too amazing in my opinion. I did however really enjoy the duelling scene towards the end and the cliffhanger was pretty good! I am going to make my way through this entire series as I'd really like to watch the anime, but hope to read the series in its entirety before I do so!

Tokyo Ghoul volume 4 is all about world building. Giving time for other characters to be introduced and learning about the life of other ghouls.

This volume introduces Shuu Tsukiyama, who just so happens to love eating other Ghouls. Pretty screwed up, huh? The rest of the volume also focuses on Kaneki learning to become a fighter.

It's pretty interesting to see a training session and that he just doesn't be Tokyo Ghoul volume 4 is all about world building. It's pretty interesting to see a training session and that he just doesn't become a warrior overnight. Always refreshing. Good: The volume gives us Shuu Tsukiyama, the psycho, and for that alone it's entertaining. I also loved watching Kaneki grow and begin to realize this world isn't as simple as black and white, and there's a lot of grey morality questions.

Bad: It's slower paced and probably the least action volume. Not that it's a horrible thing but it feels dramatically slowed down compared to the last few volumes.

Overall another solid volume. Not mindblowing but this was pretty kickass. I'ma go with a 3. Great volume! And new important characters are appearing here.

The only reason I didn't rate this much higher is because, even though it's as important an instalment as all the others, not much happened. I don't mind, but since I'm a reader that prefers loads of action, this felt a little less exciting. Nevertheless, this is still an amazing series and I can't wait to keep going. Am I the only one who likes Tsukiyama? Well, he is hilariously crazy!

I liked the humor in this one. I really enjoy interactions between Kaneki and Touka. Kaneki learning martial arts? There is nothing more interesting than a sweet guy trying to learn how to fight. And becoming badass as he goes. I'm not sure if Tsukiyama is more charming or creepy.

Probably both. And yes, I had forgotten how disturbing the whole "ghoul restaurant" scene actually was. I didn't keep my promise. I am not to be trusted when books and patience are involved. I neeed volume 5 right now. I am running out of words to describe this manga..

I still haven't reached the part where the anime ended but I will sooner or later! Oh the best thing about this volume was that we were introduced to new characters..

And we got a better glimpse of others. Gimme more! Man oh man Major Hannibal vibes, as always. In this volume we also meet Itori and Souta man. Btw, the art has already improved tremendously since the beginning of the series. Not as good as the first couple of instalments. It was nice to see a Kaneki training up something missing from the anime and learn a little more about Shu Tsukiyama.

I really liked this one the most so far, it had new characters and was a lot more interesting!! We are introduced to a new character and things are getting more and more interesting!

Honestly, I wish I could buy all volumes at once and binge-read them!

Tokyo Ghoul Manga

Tokyo Ghoul is a manga series by mangaka Sui Ishida. The series has been adapted into an anime series; both the Tokyo Ghoul manga and anime are hugely popular amongst fans but, for first-timers and anime fans alike, is the Tokyo Ghoul manga worth reading? This series is very much defined by a balanced mix of the two. This means that the series bends and flows, all the while being carried along by an addictive and well-woven narrative. Tokyo Ghoul is set in an alternative present-day Tokyo, in which these vampire-like creatures called ghouls exist, are known about, and spend their nights hunting regular humans for their flesh. Ghouls can only survive off human meat, and so they are dangerous. An agency known as the Ghoul Investigators is tasked with hunting these hunters and putting them down.
