If you love such tense shows, then you might end up watching the entire series in one go. Short anime shows usually tend to lose track somewhere, either with the pacing or the character development. Even the plot is quite brilliant and has also been executed very smartly. For me, gore-induced-action is always the best because it adds a sense of realism to the fight scenes. But the series gives attention to even the smallest of things like crows perched over in the background with a hungry look on their faces or a dark scenery with empty rusty old buildings. All of this together makes the intentionally decrepit vibe of the show even duller and creepier.

She was labeled by her classmates as "the one that does not exist. Mei was born like the older of two twin girls, she was originally conceived by Mitsuyo Fujioka along with her twin Misaki Fujioka until one day Kirika , Mitsuyo's younger twin sister, also became pregnant but miscarried leaving her devastated. At the same time, Mei's family was experiencing financial problems. Because of this, along with the fact that Yukiyo was still trying to cope with the loss of her unborn child, Mitsuyo gave Mei to her sister to raise her as her own daughter. At some point in her elementary school years, Mei learns that Misaki was her twin after her grandmother accidentally slipped it out resulting in Kirika having another mental break down. One night Mei found her "mother" crying and wanted to know the reason, to which Kirika tells her on that night that she was not allowed to meet her biological family, originating where Mei had a cellphone prior before the story began.

The anime Another is one of the series that comes to mind when many anime fans think of the mystery horror genre. This anime is based on a novel of the same name and takes place at Yomiyama Middle School where a giant mystery surrounding the students of this school unfolds. The series is dark, gruesome, and violent with the mystery being about the deaths of many of these students. However, this thriller, like many, would be nothing without its well-rounded cast of characters who have many hidden details surrounding them that are unveiled throughout the many iterations of the Another story. One thing that seemed to be hidden throughout the Another anime is the fact that the filler character, Aya Ayano may have had two crushes on two different characters in the series.

To tell the truth, I did not expect this anime to be good, because, well, it is popular, popular horror anime tends to be underwhelming. And that expectation stayed after watching the first two episodes, slow paced, intentionally creepy girl, dolls and what not. But slowly after going deeper into the lore, the backstory, it got more interesting, and the plot twist I guess was influenced by M.
