Autism is a condition that affects how a person communicates with others and the world around them. No autistic person experiences it in the same way; however, problems autistic people can face include difficulty understanding other people, anxiety, and sensitivity to loud noises or light. Attributes autistic people have can include a laserlike-focus interest in certain tasks. I had the idea for my children who are preschoolers — they are now not preschoolers any more, because it takes a long time to get these things made. In every episode, Pablo draws a picture that becomes an internal animated world where he and his animal friends can evaluate the issue. Each of the characters has a different autistic trait.

The new series depicts its autistic hero, Pablo, as an eight-year-old stepping into the weird, wonderful, and often hilarious world of school. As Pablo experiences a whole new world at school, the animation style changes. Transforming the original 2D look, Paper Owl is introducing a quirky, mixed media style echoing the eclectic mix of sounds and textures of the school world. Within this environment, Pablo experiences each day as a mixed bag of events and emotions of which he tries to make sense.
Through these shared experiences, the show uses humor to build a deeper understanding and empathy among older viewers of the neurodivergent perspective. Pablo encourages all children to laugh together… at how ridiculous the world can be whether autistic or not , how confusing the social script is and how it could easily be changed to make more sense for everyone. This series is an international comedy that does what comedy does best — breaking down barriers and highlighting the things that need to change for a happier world.

Suarez said that parents and students have guided the variety of programs that are offered through his business; when there is a demand, Pablo is happy to offer the program. Suarez has a full calendar and offers a variety of programs, including his popular summer and March break camps, birthday parties, after school programs, and classroom instruction at schools in Guelph and surrounding cities. It all began in April , when Suarez offered cartoon instruction at a local after school program. He quickly realized that parents and students were eager for more programming. Suarez, who was born and raised in the Philippines, began drawing at six-years-old after his mother encouraged him to try art. Suarez said that his philosophy as an art educator is to encourage students to focus on their own art, and not compare themselves to others. He explained that it's important to create a non-competitive environment, and nurture each child to practice and grow as an artist.
