This article contains spoilers for X Deaths of Wolverine 4. Marvel just killed off a classic X-Men member in the most horrific way. Sean Cassidy, also known as Banshee, is one of the longest-serving members of the X-Men; he first crossed paths with the Original Five back when he was forced to work for a group known as Factor Three, and ultimately switched sides to help them. Some years later, Banshee - possessed of a powerful sonic scream - became one of the Second Genesis X-Men team , alongside the likes of Wolverine, Storm and Colossus. The last few years have seen the mutant race rise to a position of global dominance they've never occupied before, with every living mutant settling on the living island of Krakoa - and mutants even learning to synergize their powers to conquer death itself.

Sean Cassidy is the heir to both a small fortune and a castle in Cassidy Keep, Ireland, where he was born. In his youth, he marries Maeve Rourke and takes a job with Interpol as an Inspector. While Cassidy is away on a long mission, his wife discovers she is pregnant and gives birth to their daughter, Theresa Cassidy. Not much later, Maeve dies in an IRA bombing. With no means to contact Sean, his cousin Tom takes care of Theresa. Before Tom can even tell him of the existence of his daughter, Sean lashes out at Tom with his sonic scream for not having taken better care of Maeve. While Sean flies away in anger, Tom falls into a chasm, breaking his leg as a result of the attack, which leaves him with a limp. Angrily, Tom swears to make Sean pay and vows to never tell him about his daughter, raising her himself instead.

Welcome to the X-Roulette! Neither Joe Casey nor Sean Phillips are considered to be iconic X-Men creators, with both having found better homes for their particular talents elsewhere in comics. In this, they fail. It does make some form of sense, generally speaking: Banshee is a senior member of the X-Men both through his experience and longevity within the comics, and as one of the elder characters in the franchise.

Sean Cassidy was a young rich mutant with undiscovered powers. His parents died, leaving him and his cousin Black Tom Cassidy with a huge fortune and the castle they had grown up in, called Cassidy Keep, although as Sean was the rightful heir, he gained all of it. The castle was a strange place, where leprechauns lived under the protection of the Cassidy Family. Both Sean and Black Tom were mutants; Sean's power was a sonic scream. Banshee continued as a minor, but valuable player in the X-Men, eventually taking on leadership in teaching the new students of Generation X with Emma Frost.

Banshee Sean Cassidy is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics , commonly in association with the X-Men. He is named after the banshee , a legendary spirit from Irish mythology, said to possess a haunting cry. He was a mentor of the s-era junior team Generation X. When the character first appeared, he acted as an adversary to the X-Men under coercion, but soon befriended the team and eventually appeared as a member of the X-Men in Giant-Size X-Men 1 May The character was forced to leave the team when his superpowers were damaged in battle in The Uncanny X-Men March , and remained an occasional supporting character for the team for several years. This week: The Phoenix Saga continues with Juggernaut, Banshee and Black Tom Cassidy added in, because apparently there wasn't enough going on already. In our last episode, the X-Men returned from their space adventure only to find that Jean had developed new powers and a spiffy new costume to go along with it -- a costume that I referred to as being a John Byrne design, even though it was actually Dave Cockrum, which should be obvious since it appeared pretty early into the "All New X-Men" run. Sorry about the mistake, I do that every time , and you'd think I'd know better by this point.

Marvelous episode, as always, however in a universe where Grave Of Fireflies fruit gummies exist, Gooey Senator Kelly makes a good showing for Worst Movie Tie-In, but comes in second, for me. He was the first artist on Ghost Rider , and I loved it when it was coming out. Chris does a beautiful job with the cyberpunk aesthetic, and I remember being really bummed when he left the book to do Generation X.
