You can build anything you can imagine out of Legos, and that's a quite an achievement. But what if there was a construction toy that only allowed you to create robotics, monsters and other science fiction awesomeness? Well, there was, and they were called Robotix. In the pantheon of beloved '80s toys, Robotix isn't incredibly well remembered, which is a shame. They were kind of like a mix of erector sets and Capsela construction toys, which, if you're unfamiliar with either, means they were more about building frameworks as opposed to solid creations, and they also included motors.

In , Milton Bradley came up with a line of building toys called Robotix. In , a series of cartoons and a Marvel comic book were produced to help promote the toy line. Although the animation and style of this cartoon is somewhat dated today, Robotix holds a certain charm about it's innovative story and extremely creative charachters that it's a shame the miniseries-turned-short-film never really took off. Many years ago my brother, myself and friends used to gather round regularly to watch this gem of a show, and seeing it again, some fifteen years on, brings back so many wonderful memories and good times. The story deals with a group of Humans who, after crash landing on a desert planet, become embroiled in an ancient war between two races who were origionally the natural occupants of the planet, the peace-loving Protectons and the warlike Terracors.

Nemesis is a cartoon character in the Robotix cartoon series. Nemesis was a male member of the Terrakor race who rose the rank of a warlord amongst his people. He led his kind in a long never ending feud against the Protectons who were another sentient race that inhabited their homeworld of Skalorr. Despite his campaigns, Nemesis never managed to achieve a full victory against his hated foe and was defeated due to their near impenetrable defenses. This would change when both factions learnt that their systems star was going to go supernova and wipe out all life on their world. He would later on advocate relocating the ruling council of both people to a new planet through his ship, the Terrorstar , however, he was overruled and it was decided that both their people would enter into stasis until the danger had passed.

Remember Robotix? Yeah, neither did I. Like their more famous Transformers and Gobots kinsmen, they also had de rigueur cartoons and comic books to help develop the line and get kids invested in the lumps of plastic.
