So with this episode, one of the strangest shows of the year ends in a strangely conventional fashion. Hoshizora closes its run with a straightforward romantic conclusion that settles on exactly the pairing predicted from the first episodes. There were no hints of an Ayumu end not even a brocon joke , very little humor, and not many surprises. As expected, Kazuma ends up with Ui. Ibuki, Madoka and even Hina really got much more development than Ui — and then, the shaft.

Having finished this galge using a lousy translator program that killed every emotional scene the eroge had to offer, Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi, would make a decent harem anime but nevertheless I doubt this anime would break out the of the typical harem theme of unneeded fanservice and dense male harem leads. However, it is my job, no… duty, to have my hopes up for every single harem anime in creation. Or Will it be like Shuffle! Who knows? But what I do know is that it would probably stick closely to the visual novel which means more fanservice and less storyline. Oh man.. Anyways, this anime series is based on a light novel series written by Akira Suzuki.

2012/02/26: Hoshizora E Kakaru Hashi OAV

Kazuma Hoshino is preparing himself for a new stage of his life as a teenager. Because of his brother Ayumu's weaker than average health, their parents thought it best for the family to move out from the city to a more rural environment. Their arrival to the inn doesn't go as planned though when they catch the wrong bus, wind up in the middle of nowhere, Ayumu gets his hat stolen by a wild monkey, and Kazuma gets lost in the woods trying to track the animal down. It all leads to a chance encounter with a spirited young girl named Ui, who Kazuma ends up accidentally falling onto and kissing while she tries leading him back to the bus stop.

Zzzzz… Oh sorry yes, this anime is about a dude named Kazuma who went back to his old hometown in order to help his brother Ayumu to recuperate from an illness. He met his old childhood friend a girl for obvious reasons , Madoka Kamoto and met new ones too, such as the cute Ibuki Hinata and this really annoying pig named Ui Nakatsugawa. This anime is very cliche and seriously has no sense of excitement at all. Another thing that annoys me is the insignificant of the first episode scene where Kazuma was seen playing with Madoka. I felt very sorry for Madoka as I thought she was the one of the main heroine and deserved more justice… In fact, I think all the main heroine got their justice in terms of development and screen time, except for her. To show you guys how cliche this anime is, let us think about it.

The disparity between my initial impression coming in and the one I left with was quite surprising, because my research into the premise along with the promo video had already given a very good idea of what I was in store for. The big difference between then and now was the execution, which played out exactly like I had read about yet so better with some life behind the characters. Not exactly the most exciting turn of events on paper, but quite a different story on screen when Kazuma is climbing up trees and fearlessly jumping between branches …and falling.
