Barakamon Review (Anime)

A first look at the new Anbernic Win a valid alternative to Steam Deck? Midnight Castle Succubus is a spectacularly good Castlevania-like for adults. Six of the best spring anime moments. You know when an anime just gets you?

Barakamon was that for me when I sat down to finally watch it, and I enjoyed my time with it immensely. Barakamon follows young, egotistical calligrapher Seishu Handa who punches an older man for calling his work unoriginal, and so his father sends him to Goto Island to get his bearings together. I really want to see more of this loveable cast! The English dub is strong with the likes of Robert McCollum, Alison Viktorin, Lynsey Hale and Apphia Tu giving fantastic performances — voice director Mike McFarland had his finger on the pulse when directing the chosen talent, and they capture the joyful tone of the show.

The opening and ending themes are catchy, and I particularly like the cheerful opening. If not, then at least we can read the manga in both physical and digital forms.

Anime Series Like Barakamon

Iyashikei is a subgenre of anime and manga that's growing in popularity. Usually set in serene, peaceful locations, these stories are slices of life that emphasize calming, healing and almost lackadaisical storytelling. One example of the genre is Barakamon -- a comedic calligraphy story that really lets audiences take it easy. Existing in both anime and manga form, Barakamon has even chilled its way into earning a spinoff. Thankfully, for those who still haven't experienced the franchise, getting into it is just as easygoing as the story itself. To help write out further what makes it so great, here's the plot of Barakamon as well as how to enjoy its adaptations. Barakamon follows Seishu Handa, a calligraphy prodigy with skill beyond his years. Unfortunately, he lacks a certain level of creativity, with a critique as such landing him in hot water with his instructor.

Barakamon – 01

Based on the general opinions around the web, it seems this show is a favorite of the season, up there with Gekkan Shoujo and I can definitely see why. So the story starts off with Seishuu Handa, who after having his calligraphy insulted by that old man you saw earlier, he punches him. To avoid the public after such a scandal, his father suggests that he go on a leave of absence to the country and work on his calligraphy from there. Here he meets tons of people, who welcome him with open arms and who he gradually becomes close friends with. I think what I love most about this show is the sense of community.

Moments In Manga — I love handa and narus relationship

No doubt about it, Tai sashimi is the most delicious sashimi there is. This episode very much represents Barakamon the anime in its elemental form. As I also said, that process is interesting to watch play out independent of the themes of the source material themselves. What we see in episodes like this one — which is to say, most of them so far — is a kind of skimming approach, where the anime dips its toe into the underlying conflicts without really diving in I kind of wish Naru would give it a push. A pretty symbolic moment that. I kind of wish he was staying around a while longer, to be honest, but life on Gotou will continue to amble along without him.

Every season, there is one anime that stands above the rest. And for this past summer season , that anime is Barakamon.

Barakamon is an easily endearing show. One that connects with how many of us feel, brimming with self-doubt and constantly trying to get in touch with why we do what we do. Barakamon follows Handa Seishuu, a young calligrapher who finds himself on a rural Japanese island trying to rediscover his passion for calligraphy. Along this journey he meets an energetic little girl named Naru Kotoishi. Together with the other free spirits of the island, Naru helps Handa discover his creative identity, and what it means to value the people around him. The first episode tells its own story, one which the rest of the series builds from. Handa is sent to live on a humble little island after stubbornly refusing to take criticism for his calligraphy.

Beach episodes are some of the most famous episode types in anime, but there have been some great series centered around other times of the year. Isolated from the rest of Japan, this remote island town set the stage for the slice-of-life anime, Barakamon. In this two-episode arc, Maid Latte hosts a one-day event to bring in the customers. Cute maid girls in swimsuits?
