Unfortunately for these two preferable loners, that means they will have to try to get along and work together long enough to stop this electrifying force. While the CGI animation here is certainly nowhere near the level of Pixar films or the like, it is actually pretty decent. It does take a little bit of getting used to, but it really flows well and I think the younger fans will quite enjoy seeing two of their favorite superheroes come alive in this fashion. The story stays light hearted enough to be suitable for younger viewers far tamer than any of the live action Marvel films while including enough action and elements from the comics to keep the older viewers interested and entertained as well.

Over the coming months, we're rewatching the Marvel movies in order for a series of articles. First up, we're talking about 's Iron Man. In a year where movies are being constantly delayed due to current events, this is the longest period fans have gone without the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Look back at the beginning. A legacy that begins and ends so far with Iron Man, the film that launched a universe on the back of Tony Stark, one of the most flawed heroes in comic books. Iron Man is a high sci-fi adventure with an underlying tale of redemption.
Tony Stark is an arrogant and witty technologist who despite his moral shortcomings, has this magnetic personality. Iron Man introduces us to Tony already in his prime, but not as a hero and certainly not as someone admirable. A chance encounter with Yensin, a man with a much greater moral compass than himself, puts Tony on the path to redemption.
Watching Iron Man 12 years later, knowing that 22 MCU movies would follow, is a pleasantly nostalgic experience. In places, the movie looks better than some of the later films that heavily rely on CGI. Watching this movie never gets old, especially in how Robert Downey Jr. It's enough to please comic book fans, while drawing newcomers in with his quick wit and sarcasm. To this day, Tony Stark is a character I love to hate. While he strives to do better, there is a part of him that will always get in his own way.
Most heroes go through a fundamental metamorphosis, forever changing them into someone better than who they were. That said, the struggle of Tony going against his own nature is what drives the film, as well as his entire MCU arc. To say that Iron Man had an impact on the superhero genre would be a bit of an understatement.

The future of its films and their studio was dependent on the success of a hero who was relatively B-level at that time, a strange thing to consider when today Tony Stark and Iron Man are household names. In the era before Iron Man, superhero movies were plagued by the demand to make them dark and gritty.
The character never takes himself too seriously, and that defines the tone of the film. Iron Man focused on having fun with the viewers while still taking the time to lay out the stakes, which made for a mostly lighthearted adventure. The ambition of what that post-credits sequence promised — Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury unveiling the Avengers initiative to Tony — was enough to get fans talking about what could happen next. Not only did Marvel find success in what Iron Man started, but it spawned a slew of imitators who all haphazardly tried to put together their own connected universes over the coming years.
There are a lot of traits from the first Iron Man movie that the MCU borrows for the rest of its films — mostly the theme of the flawed hero. Watching the original Iron Man film, you begin to see how that theme influences future heroes, who also share their own set of mistakes. Captain America may have been the exception in his debut film, but he too falls into the trappings of the flawed hero in later films, and finds more moral complexity in the gray areas of The Winter Soldier and Civil War.

Framestore tackled the character development of the Black Order members for around a year before post production, feeding into the Marvel Vis Dev group. A small in-house team created animation vignettes to delve further into their personalities and character traits. Ebony Maw Tom Vaughan-Lawlor is tall, sinister, and the most restrained character of the group, delivering his lines in an almost deadpan manner. As one of the characters developed early on by the Framestore team, the challenge was keeping the design close to the comic book whilst still being a believable and threatening presence.

It seems like it happens quite often when a straight to home video release catches me unaware until it is actually released as is the case with this movie which is a pseudo-sequel to Iron Man and Hulk: Heroes United from last year. The whole movie is really just a set up for somewhat of a bromance between Captain America and Iron Man. And yet here in this movie, Captain America is the one who is planning things out carefully before he goes in while Iron Man is the one who rushes in and improvises on the fly.
Most Marvel movies revolve around a mixture of superpowers, mutants, aliens and gods, but all that stuff doesn't just happen naturally: the men and women working tirelessly behind the scenes to create those illusions are the real heroes. When we watch a superhero movie, we're fully aware that some of what we're watching was created digitally, though the sheer amount of visual effects needed to bring a Marvel movie to the big screen is staggering—some of the more recent releases have relied on the contribution of VFX artists for up to 98 percent of total shots.
