Premise : After having sworn off music due to an incident at the middle school regional concert band competition, euphonist Kumiko Oumae enters high school hoping for a fresh start. The band itself, however, is in chaos. Having had a drama filled year previous, and a new director bent on qualifying for nationals, will the band be able to function? The animation, character design, and backgrounds are done by the same team that went on to do Violet Evergarden, so expect breathtakingly gorgeous transitions, backgrounds, and immersion.

The directing for so many scenes is poignantly perfect, with every detail contributing to breathing life and reality into this work. You really feel the love the creators have for their work. Story-wise, I felt more gripped by the first season than the second, but I felt that the second gave a lot more character exploration that made everyone feel real and intricate, without falling back on tropes.

A critically acclaimed spin-off movie, Liz and the Blue Bird , following some of the side characters from Season 2 will be reviewed next week. In the meantime, Eupho got me thinking a lot about certain episodes of my life that you can see in my Opinion Piece.

It was certainly a good watch. Good review, by the way! Like Like. You are commenting using your WordPress. You are commenting using your Twitter account. [REVIEW] Hibike! Euphonium 響け!ユーフォニアム

Nothing is as it seems. The theme of facades is something that runs deep within the groove of Sound! Euphonium two seasons. Released in , Sound! Euphonium is a music anime that is not about the music itself, but about how an aspiring musician sheds her anxieties and becomes aware of the world that surrounds her.

Loved it. The art, the soundtrack, the plot, the characters and their development everything in Hibike! Euphonium is just incredibly good and definitely.

Hibike! Euphonium – Anime Review

Note: This is copied from my review which you can find here. After a horrible experience at a band competition in middle school, Kumiko Oumae is hoping for a new start at Kitauji High School, which she chose to attend because of the cute sailor uniforms. Because of their previous poor performances, many of the members doubt that the band has a chance to qualify for Nationals this year, but the arrival of new band director Noboru Taki might turn that all around. Well, several. The band is pretty hopeless. Then enters Noboru Taki, the new band director, who, upon hearing their goals of making it to Nationals, sets the bar higher for them. It seems that making it to Nationals could even be a possibility for Kitauji High School! Euphonium is such an accurate depiction of being in a musical group in school. It seriously made me miss being in competitions with my ensemble, hahaha.

Posted by Matt Brown Jul 17, A euphonium is a baritone brass instrument, similar to the baritone horn found in most American high school band rooms. It rounds out the bass section of a concert band, acting as a bridge between the bright tenor of the trombone and the bedrock presence of the tuba. They pack a punch when they need to, but play support most of the time. Secondary school students tend to not choose a baritone or eupho.

And yet something about it drew me in. Maybe it was the instruments, or maybe it was the character designs, but something about this screamed potential. Luckily I was completely right, since Sound Euphonium is a great high-school melodrama filled with relatable characters and gorgeously detailed animation. Now pinpointing exactly what makes Sound Euphonium tick is rather difficult. On the surface and in summary, you could very easily write the show off as a K-On 2.

Sound! Euphonium — On Ensembles and Ensemble Shows

There are plenty of things that make it great, but what brings these things together and elevates them is a belief that the vital purpose of art is the communication of feelings between people. This belief drives its scenes, its characters, and its plot arcs, so that in trying to be what it considers to be good art, Sound! Euphonium 2 is at all times furthering its own thematic purpose. Writing about anime is a clumsy business, halting vivisection of living organism. Yet it is precisely because the good ones are so dense, so rich in meaningful detail, that tearing them apart can itself become meaningful. The hope is to find hidden things in the new gaps. To do that better, to make better gaps, I am splitting this article into three.

Hibike's ending was a mixed of a lottt of emotions. And just like how Kumiko said it, “its like i'm about to be sucked in”. It was stunning and.

Euphonium original title Hibike! The story takes place in Uji, Kyoto, and focuses on the Kitauji High School Music Club, which is steadily improving thanks to the newly appointed adviser's strict instruction. A manga adaptation illustrated by Hami began serialization on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! Web website on November 28,

Sound is a coming-of-age story sure to be nostalgic for anyone with an instrumental background, while the fantastic scores might inspire the less musically inclined to give it a whirl. Is the piccolo stuck next to the oboe, or is the oboe stuck next to the piccolo? Sound delivers a meatier plot than you might assume. Who can resist a girl who can lug around an instrument as big as her own body?

Kumiko Oumae has just begun her new life as high school student. Determined to make a fresh start, she decided to attend Kitauji High, breaking away from her old friends and her old self.

Euphonium or Hibike! Euphonium also known as Hibike! Written by Ayano Takeda, the novel series was first published on December 25, , and new volumes are being published even to this day. A year after its initial publication, the novel series was adapted into a manga series, which became quite popular. In , a Japanese anime studio called Kyoto Animation announced plans to adapt the novel series into an anime television series, and Season 1 of Sound! Season 1 was followed by the release of a bunch of special episodes in and a summary movie, and in the following year, the show returned with Season 2, which premiered on October 6, In , the second season was compiled into an anime movie, and subsequently, a sequel was announced.

If any of you have had the opportunity to play an instrument in your school band, then you know all about the frustrations and pressure to perform as well as the rewards to be reaped in the end. Euphonium captures the everyday essence of band class as well as the difficulty to master an instrument. The show portrays these things in a lighthearted and comedic matter, but still presents the reality each character has to face. It has been her instrument since she was a kid and she is now stuck playing it for her after school band class.
