So, Bloom goes in the other world to study in the fairies school; and to learn how to control her power, because she discovered them tragically.
Then, Mrs. Dowling, headmistress of Alfea found her while she was hiding from her home. Between friendships, secrets and pain, we follow Bloom in her search of the truth. She is ready to do everything she can to discover her past.
As the series progress, Alfea will have to face and fight against the burned ones, which are terrifying killer monster. My opinion about the series is quite lukewarm. Indeed, if I base my opinion on my knowledge and love for the original cartoon, I can only affirm that the series has nothing to do with it.
In fact, if I link the series to the cartoon I cannot say that I liked it. As you may have read before, both are really different and the series only have few elements in common with the cartoon. Of course, the series is made to please young adults and teenagers, in search of romances and dramas.
But many scenes of the series are well shoot. First of all, the body positivism is highlighted by the actress who interprets Terra and by many scenes of the series. Secondly, the question of gender is clearly modernised and some elements highlight gender equality. Indeed, Specialists can be either man or women, which shows that women are as strong as men. Furthermore, toxic masculinity is questioned by the fact that fairies can be men, which is originally a placed reserved for women. Then, psychology and the psychological impact of certain situations is showed.
In fact, we follow the evolution of Stella through the series thanks to many situations she has to face. Finally, we can see the consequences of secrets and, in some ways, assure that the truth is the best answer.
So, I encourage you to watch the series. Indeed, I think that this series has a real potentiel, but the fact that it is link to the Winx Club cartoon do wrong to it.
